Rear Seats: do the FCs work?

There are some 2nd gen rear seats on Ebay. Do they go into the FB? If I send an FB to France I think I'll include (a) rear seat for the 4 yr old grandchild. Is kit possible to have just the passenger side rear seat? Does the driver side rear seat impede moving the driver seat back?

I know, I know: I should search for this, but I couldn't get the search term right and kept getting thousands of posts about 'rear' ends.

I got a rear seat for my first gen around 1986. It was sold by a company with "California" in the name, but thats all I can remember. The fabric was the same, and the seat back folds down flat. You have to remove the storage boxes to install the seats. They are large enough for a car seat or a child. If the seat hinders the travel of the front seat it is no more than an inch or so.

I have no idea if a 2nd gen rear seat will fit. You might try the British RX7 forum since rear seats were sold in Europe.

Hope this helps.

My car has the rear seats you're talking about--I think.

Anyway, every now and then I get flamed for the seats but the wife said it was either an SUV, wagon or gets some seats in that RX. And my kids fit fine back there.

Sooo, I'd rather have the RX.

Look at the link in my signature to see them.

If you are in france it should be easy to get hold of rear seats as the US market was the only one who didn't have them.

Stock FB rear seats are plentyfull in Europe, once you're here, I have set I no longer need. Rear seats are always both sides in one piece (one lower seat part and one upper foldable part) And I have seen an FB with FC rear seats. It also had a complete FC inner front end (looks like FB from the outside, but has complete TII engine, box, struts, steering...) so I guess the seats can just aswell have been seriously modified.
Just get SA/FB rear seats they will be very cheap once you're overhere!

There are some, cheap, on Ebay. In fact, one would match the red leather in my 85GSL, which is probably the best car to have in France as it only has 55k miles.

Scott, your rear seat is the same as mine; made specifically for first gen. I think Biffle is looking at second gen seats.
