It weights quite a bit as the rear section is made of metal, i'd have to weigh it when I get home from work to give you the exact weight.
To be honest your better off with the storage boxes, the seats are ******* useless as you can't fit anyone in there anyway.
I'm about 5,9ish and when I adjust the drivers seat for my driving position, the back of the drivers seat is only about 5cms from the front of the rear seat....
We only got them because at the time it was the law that all cars had to have atleast 4 seats, not 2.
It's funny beacuse we all wish we had the storage boxes (and usually rip the seat out and make our own custom ones) and you guys all dream of having a rear seat.

Hmmmm....
probably not. There's just not enough room in there for anyone to sit behind the two front seats with any sort of comfort.
I've strapped a 12 inch subwoofer tube to my back seat, you can get an idea of how little room you have from this pic.
Bear in mind that its only a 12 inch sub tube and look at how much of the seat area it takes up.

That car has the Mariah hatch installed and you are looking at it from the inside...takes up a bit of room. I have a rear seat in the box, so I will measure it and weigh it tomorrow if I get a chance and advise of dimensions and weight if you like.
I purchased mine on here, and I also have seen the RARELY on eBay, so look there as well !

I got backseats, and yes they are useless. Although out of the 4 rx7's I have owned, I have never had storage bins.
They are useless for anything but buckling a gallon of milk in, which is all the action my seat ever saw.
EDIT: Well, the canadians get bagged milk, not sure how that would work.

the thing is i only need a passenger side of the rear seat so i think itd be best to not have to ship one in but modify like a van seat or even make one, i dont want to pay a ton of money for something fairly rare just to cut it up and destroy it

Id find some out of a extended cab pick up not a king cab but like a early 90's chevy pick up. but the seats are sideways and would alow for foot room for the back passanger. I'd give the back passanger an "oh ****" handle so they don't rack there head on your hatch every time you take off. more so for your cars saftey than your friends. we use to lift the seat adjuster on stop lights and squish the back seat passangers feet. Well just an idea for thought.

See thats the problem...
I'm rocking 340+HP @ the rear wheels and it starts to get farking interesting to anyone who wants to stay in the back of a 1st Gen at that stage...
Trust me, **** the seat idea off, put a 12 inch sub in a sealed box on one side and on the other run, run two system amps in a sealed box with two cooling amps in the other box and you will have a completely independant system...
aLL eLSE fAILS, cALL cAMERON AND HE'LL SORT YOU OUT............................................... .................................................. ............blah!!!...SORRY!

I measured mine as promised and it is in a 20" x 20" x 36" box and weighs approx 60 lbs. Since your plans consist of cutting it up and using half, I will let YOU make the decision of having one shipped to you...even Naples, FL to Salem, OR may be more than you want to spend

Its a doable thing and with comfort, and possably being lagitamate. the van seat idea is what gave me the idea. you could possably mount it backwards (like the back seat in a large van) not sideways and have there feet to the back. you would half to do a seat belt also.
I don't know why you want a backseat besides the added weight your friends will always want a ride somewhere. I like having a two seater. my friends cant all bum rides anymore I use to roll 6 deep in my lancer. annoying as hell. I've already had 3 in the 7. it was a bit tricky but we all fit and had seatbelts. but i only recomend two small chicks. 3 dudes would be kinda uhh well you know. and cramped. trust me backseats are overated.
Btw I don't have kids at the moment but could I strap a carseat to that strap in the hatch. if I ever deside to breed? Just trying to not ever own a minivan.

yeah now that i think about it more and more i might as well not mess with it, maybe later on with some other 7 but not this one, and i want to fab up a custom rear hatch kinda like the Mariah one but with out the louvers and the side windows and that just wouldnt work well with the rear seat, might as well use that room for some subs or something of that sort.

well i was expecting it to be something like the older preludes, the late 80s ones have a seat but like no room, they are pretty much useless unless you're real short and sit sideways..

in my old 81 gsl "the beast" i installed a set of rear seats they are aftermarket and would fold flat. I installed an amp rack on the back of the seat so i was getting the most of what little area i had to work with. The main reason i got the rear seat was for my brothers 2 kids. they LOVED uncle davids rx7. but they always fought about who could go for a ride in it. they were 10 and 6. so i slaped in the rear seat with seatbelts(lap) and everybody was happy. im a little guy 5'6 and i had a hell of a time just fitting in it with the front seats leaned forward. so unless you NEED it dont bother
