Rats Nest
The rats nest is the clutter of vacumn lines, check valves and solenoids underneath the UIM/ upper intake manifold. They control various things such as double throttle, fuel pressure regulator, the stock sequential system; boost control, secondary turbo pre-spool, charge relief valve, and there are also some other solenoids for emissions like egr, air control valve and such. Do a search and it will all go into depth.
After time bad solenoids, faulty check valves, and bad vacumn lines lead to sequential turbo problems and such so everyone does the "silicone hose job", or the simplification which blocks everything off with according block-off-plates and ditch everything and go non-sequential or even single turbo.
Hope this helps.

Where in NJ are you located? I have a 93 that I got last march with 17,500 miles on it original but now it has 26994 and it's in the garage. But I live in NY not too far from paramus and ramsey.
