random white smoke wtf?

These past couple of days, my car has been randomly smoking. Sometimes when i just start the car or while idling by the stop sign, white smoke would start coming out of my exhaust for a little and it would go away. I'm pretty sure its not coolant since it does smell like fuel. I know my turbos are leaking a little and i get some blue smoke during a cold start, but thats about it. Never had smoke during regular driving. Wtf can this be?

My car has done this for 2yrs also. Sometimes after driving around no matter how Im driving I will come to a stop light and look back and see some smoke. I blame my turbos though

If it's really cold, you'll get some white smoke, but it usually means coolant. Maybe from turbos, maybe from engine. Blue smoke means either your turbos are on the way or oil seals in the engine. When my engine went, i had blue smoke on idle and on deaceleration.

A little off track - but I get a puff of black / blue smoke on start up. That's it though. Could this be due to the Pettit Protec R fuel additive I use? I only drive it on weekends BTW.

no this only happens when its warm. I really dont think its coolant, or else it would smell really sweet right? It smells like fuel. I also looked at my filler neck on a cold start to see if it would bubble, but it didnt.

I would check your intercooler pipes and see if there is any oil in them.

If there is any oil between the turbos and intercooler, intercooler itself, or from the intercooler to intake, then your turbos are blowing oil through them... and your turbo seals are on their way out

It could be something as simple as the turbo oil control seals and not...................well you know. It's not always the O- rings

My did this too, engine was gone in 4 weeks. I did drive it hard even with the smoking though. I had rebuilt turbos, so I knew it wasn't them. Turned out to have no compression on the back rotor. Mine smelled like fuel, but I think my coolant seals were shot also.

usually white smoke means coolant leak, so i really doubt its oil and reason the smoke smells like gas instead of that usual sweet smell is because our cars always smells like fuel. hahaha let us know when u figure it out. i'm kinda interested.

well i know my turbos are leaking, so it might just be getting worse? its not as bad that it drips on the floor but the smoke gets annoying. How long do you think i have before they die?

Also the O-ring that is found between the TB and elbow expanded that it doesnt close perfectly. I ordered a new one and should be coming in soon. Can this somehow cause this, because it started at about the same time. I think it should also fix my idle too.

That's a relative question with no concrete answer. However, it will depend largely on how you drive your car.

Mine is doing the same. Mine is beginning to smoke usually when I'm at stop lights. I checked intercooler pipes and found a small amount of oil in them so I know I've got some blow through from the turo. I still have great boost numbers and plenty of power. No oil leaks under the car or under the hood.
