Ran out of Fuel and now experiencing problems
Okay, so I haven't had a cluster in my car for quite some time as I was testing different clusters from Japan. Anyways, took the car out today to run to Home Depot and I ran out of gas. Got fuel in the car and now its giving me a lot of problems. Its has absolutely no power as if the map sensor came loose (it didnt) or the alternator was dieing/dead (its not, just replaced it). It just doesn't want to move, then something will kick the idle straight and it will be fine for 2 seconds than bog back down. Don't think the fuel filter can be too dirty as it was just replaced within the last 500 miles. I reset the ECU but that didn't do much, maybe the fuel injectors just need to be cleaned? Any of you have any ideas?
Thank you for your time and help,
Bryan

You may have burned out your fuel pump. Modern fuel pumps rely on an amount of fuel in the tank to lubricate the pump. If you ran it dry, you may have also over-heated the pump compromising the bearings in the pump and it is now running poorly if at all.

Ran out at about 5mph, little to no boost. Forgot to mention that the car will randomly stall at low speeds too.

Someone with better memory should chime in the proper voltage tests.
At this point really sounds like a fuel issue.
Simpler but less reliable methods:
making use of a PFC and commander with the Sensor check menu and or looking for a sporadic injector duty reading.
or the fuel pump jump through the diagnostic box and listening for a constant fuel pump. There is also an injector clicking test which is fairly simple like the others.

Did you get this fixed yet? As others have already chimed in, sounds like a fuel pump issue. I'd pull it out to see if it got gunked up and to test it as well. Easy to get to on our cars and I'm sure you know how.
