the filter that i had on there is BY62-14-3O2.
the one i picked up today is B6Y1-14-3O2-9A.
Mazdaformance lists BY61-14-3O2-9A as the necessary filter. Thats three different part numbers...anyone know the correct filter? did mazdeaformance tranpose the Y6? whats going on here?

i did alittle research...B6Y1 14 302 9A is the miata filter. I cant believe mazda woiuld differentiate filters by simply switching the order of two numbers...do they try top confuse us....?

Damn right you do! I really want to see what your car is going to do...

Anyway, I am 98% sure an OEM Miata filter will fit on an FD.

Hope to see you racing tomorrow...

Purolator Pure One filters are actually pretty good. Allthough they pack a lot sqft of filter material in there, but they should flow good enough. They also have the anti-drain back which is good since the filter sits straight up.

The oil filter for the Miata fits the 7. When I had my Miata I bought a case and used them on both cars.

Also I think the best oil filter out there are the K&N ones and the Mobil 1 synth. oil filters, but you are going to pay for quality. The Mobil 1 runs around 12 bucks.

For you new comers to the FD scene:

The original filters were B6Y1-14-302 and were made in Japan.

The replacements of about 2 years ago, B6Y2-14-302 are U.S. made.
