Neither. Theres a little "C" clip holding each line together. Remove the clip from each line and pull each half apart. Heres a picture with arrows pointing to the clips:

Make sure the clips sit properly once you put the hoses back together. Ive seen people put the clips on wrong and then dump all their oil on the ground while driving when their oil lines separate. I'm guessing you dont have the Factory Service Manual since this is covered in there. Theres links to an electronic version of this manual in the stickies.

Folks....if you're going to work on these cars, especially these cars! - get a shop manual. This procedure above is one of the simpliest of simples on this car.

Or your at Risk of injury or destroying your FD. And if you haven't heard, parts are expensive.

No problem. This along with the throw out bearing are two very simple things that get people when they work on the car without a service manual. Print it out or spend the money to buy a hard copy from Mazda. You'll be glad you did.

With all that rust and residue the lines may be a bit difficult to get off. Twisting and pulling usually works, but you might have to hit them with some pb blast and tap the metal ends with a hammer. I would definitely clean those up and the engine bay before putting the motor back in.
