Question for 1st time running of Innovative Wide band

The directions to the unit suck. We have all the conections hooked up properly. What exactly is the procedure for the calibration or running for the first time. We are getting a blank screen on the gauge but have double and triple check the wires. It does power up but displays no values.

Anyone have some advice or tips?

To calibrate the unit, you can do it via the software or by hitting the button on the gauge 3 times. I will then read something like 20.9 air. A din plug was supposed to be plugged into one of the outputs as well. Make sure the 02 is out of the downpipe when you calibrate it or you should have the car off for at least 12hours.

I had very detailed directions when I hooked mine up. Is your display the new round one that has a digital display in the middle?

Anthony

Yeah, it's the XD 1 gauge that I bought thru the group buy. Dave hooked it all up and then I started the car, so do you think since we didn't do the "Free air" calibration outside of the downpipe that it's not reading properly? I'm gonna let it sit all night and then try to go thru the directions tomorrow without starting the car but leaving the sensor in the downpipe. All we got were the three dashes which said that it was not getting a signal from the lambda unit. We tried re-calibrating the gauge but that didn't work. If anyone else has a suggestion, let's hear it! Thanks. Brian

Ok, I pulled the sensor out of the downpipe, it's getting very hot so I know there's a signal going to it from the LC-1. I did the "First time use" startup procedure and still no luck getting any value at all to come up on the gauge. Double checked my connections as well. Think maybe I cooked the sensor??? I'm pretty stumped.

Make sure you have the terminator in the 'serial in' of the LC-1, serial cable going from the 'serial out' of the LC-1 to the 'serial in' of the XD-1, and hook up the wires according to this thread...

I'm going off memory but I am sure it's connected according to the installation instructions which is all that is posted in that thread. Brian, take a double check on the wires again anyway though.

Only thing I can think of is the system ground needing to go all the way over to the Power FC ground. It's the analog wires that I'm confused about. The stereo input is correct, I unplugged the serial datalogger cable so I know that's not the problem. I'll try the start up sequence tomorrow after the sensor has been in free air all night.

The ground is a ground. It won't matter where you choose to ground it at. Try the start up sequence again.

That was the key right there. I didn't understand what you meant by this last night. Ray at PFS apparently had the same problem and that was the fix. Ran it thru the preliminary startup and got 20.8/ O2, I'll put it in the downpipe with the heat sinker later and try it out on the road. Thanks for your advice Matt. Brian
