It's toast.

Your stock clutch will not be able to handle that power.
Several years back when I first purchased my 93, I put a new OEM unit in there. A couple of months later, I added an intake, catback, down pipe and ECU. The clutch immediately started slipping under boost(12psi).
I eventually had to upgrade to the ACT unit and have added more mod's since then and have had no problems.

It will last a long time if you nurse it....but who wants to nurse it?

Good luck
GEB!

Well.. My clutch is in great condition, my car was mainly highway miles, driving from NC to CA most of its life. I upgraded to just a few little mods in signature and now at around 80 MPH in 5th under boost my clutch is slipping. I was running bout 12 to 12.5 PSI when it slips. I set the boost to 10 or 11 and now its fine under full boost. How much HP can the stock clutch handle? Ricks estimated that I am running 300 to the wheels at 12 PSI.
That's strange... I have a similar setup as yours and don't experience that at all. So I don't think it's that the stock clutch can't take the power.

Did you ever Dyno or run the 1/4? we should have similar #'s, mine was never dynoed.

BTW...

I left out a small detail, not sure if its relevant, I have 143,000 on my OEM clutch.
Nope, I don't drag or dyno my car... I do have the occassional street race, but that's it...

Also, my car has 73k miles on it, so that's probably the difference.

I think the high mileage on your clutch has something to do with it....

BTW, the OEM clutch disk itself, can handle a good amount of power. It's the OEM pressure plate that will not hold up and will eventually begin to slip under high boost. With anything over 280 RWHP, it's only a matter of time before you start seeing the OEM pressure plate begin to slip.

it sounds like your clutch. i'm running 280rwhp on a relatively new stock clutch and it handles the power fine. 143k miles on an rx-7 is a helluva lot.
