Priming oil metering pump

Hi guys, I was starting up my new engine and then I realised that the oil metering lines were clear/empty. Is there a way to prime the lines so that there'll be oil in the lines before I start the car? Something like priming the fuel system?

Thanks!

Pull the fuel pump relay and crank the engine till you have oil pressure, then replace the relay and fire her up.

It will take a while for the oil metering pump lines to fill with oil. But, that's why I always use plenty of assembly lube on the combustion chamber .

I imagine you could put the ends of the lines in oil and put a suction at the top of the line and get the line filled with oil...

I agree with macdaddy.. Before cranking any engines, I've heard you should do this.

Any idea how long I have to crank it for? 5 minutes? The oil metering lines are kinda long.

Also, when you are priming the engine, pull out one spark plug from each rotor. That way, it'll crank over quickly and with minimal pressure on the bearings/seals... the best thing to do if there's no oil pressure.

Take care,
Shad

Hi guys, I took off the fuel pump relay and removed the trailing spark plugs and cranked it for about 10 secs, but I still dont see any oil in the metering lines.

I took off the lines at the pump and stuck my pinky in there and there was only like a drop of oil in there. Hmm... could the pump be shot? It was working before I did the engine swap.

It takes a little time for the lines to fill . Pre mix 2 cycle oil in the gas tank as stated above and you will be good to go . Check the lines after drive around the block .
