Powder Coating

I searched and didn't turn up anything. I am looking to powder coat my uim, lim possibly and some other parts. Has any one ever heard of or tried the Craftsman Powder Coating system? For the price a local shop wanted to do the parts, I figured being able to do it myself would be better.

Harbor Freight has a powdercoating setup that's mighty cheap - a buddy of mine has had great results with it. Read up on Eastwood's kit on their web site - they started, in a way, the cheap home powdercoating. If you have the room for it (an old oven, etc.) it's a killer way to detail parts.

BTW, I'd start small - brackets, small parts, etc. and get the hang of how it works before you jump into doing intake manifolds. Powder coating is REALLY tricky to remove once it's on there, and you don't want a botched job on something large.

WOW those are cool and affordable! I have an old oven I was about to throw out because my insurance bought me a new one after Kartina. There are ovens everywhere down here that people are throwing out to the street. I might just get a kit and try it out. That old oven may just be a new edition to my garage! ahaha

thanks,
-josh

I have a friend that ordered one from Harbor Freight two months ago and he is still waiting for it. He just told them that if he doesn't get it by the 20th to cancel the order.

Call up Columbia Coatings and order from them. They have them in stock and can also provide tech support and other materials needed.

Rotarysc on this forum does powdercoating and does a great job IMO. Here's a thread with some pics of his work:

And he has more samples, pricing and contact info at his site realcoatings.com

For ~$130 I got my UIM, intake piping, battery tie downs, and AST powdercoated, including shipping both ways! Not to mention Scott gave me periodic updates and was very responsive to emails. I wouldn't hesitate to give him business in the future.
