The air where I live has been smoky for a few weeks, AQI often above 100, and although the weather is otherwise nice I don't want to drive my RX7 because it doesn't have a cabin air filter to clean the air. Does anyone know if it's possible to add a cabin filter to an old car which wasn't designed for one, or retrofit the blower-and-filter system from another car?

 

typically Mazda puts the filter in the box with the fan motor, its kind of, well here is an Rx8 setup, filter goes in the slot



the miata people have made a little filter that goes on the intake under the cowl, which is an option.

i wonder if the easy way would to just put a filter over the recirculating opening and just hit recirc?
