Please identify whay I just broke!

Here I am, doing the classic "polish the intake manifold/vaccuum hose replacement" task (or should I say back sore. Anyways, of course I broke a solenoid and something else I can't indentify while doing it, and I need help identifying them. I'm pretty sure the soleniod I broke was the double throttle solenoid (the one closest to the front with the green marking on it) and I read somewhere before that there's a mod that includes removing it. Yeah, I'm pretty much trying to get out of going to the dealership and paying $50 for this guy, but who wouldn't? And the second one I broke connects to the intake manafold close to the turbos, it has two 4mm hoses per...whatever it is. There's two of them. I attached one of the vaccuum diagrams with the area circled. I have no idea what they are and I don't see them labeled on any diagrams, please advise..damn my back hurts..

That is where the Wastegate and Turbo Pe-Control solinoids bolt to.

Perfect, I broke the one on the right (if you were standing in front of the car looking at the intake manifold.) Is that the Turbo Pre Control Solenoid or the Wastegate solenoid?

Answer my own question

Thanks for the post, now that I look at the diagram again I see it's the wastegate control solenoid (it's damn hard trying to trace those hoses on the diagrams..) Anyways, thanks alot!

solution to broken wastegate solenoid.....

get a boost controller (profec B, AVC-R) and cap off the lines from the actuator that go to it.

i live by this rule MOST of the time:

if it aint broke, dont try to fix it.....but if its broke, UPGRADE!

but usually i dont wait for it to break.....which is why i have negative money.....

THe solenoid is around $130 from a dealer. Now if i have a manual boost controller does that mean that i can disconnect my wastegate solenoid????

Of course. That is the purpose of an aftermarket boost controller. You eliminate the stock solenoid.

Take a peek at the one at www.dawesdevices.com It's spring actuated and works better than a manual valve.

A lot of guys sometimes sell their old solenoids. Have ya checked the parts forum?
