Please help me decide on headlights.
I really like the rotary extreme headlights but are they over or underpriced for 1000. In other words....is the quality bad? Anyone with experience and where I should buy from?
Thanks

This should help you decide.

IMO spend the money on something else. If you want to upgrade the lighting get some silverstars and clear lenses off of ebay.

RotaryExtreme does not exist anymore. I'm not sure if other Rx-7 shops bought out their remaining inventory, so you may not be able to get their Headlights.
Anyway, the RE-Amemiya (or RE copy) you are going to have to cut away a large section of the frame the flip up headlights sit on. Its a pain, thats for sure, but they do put out far more light that the stock set up. I installed the RE-Amemiya kit with slightly bigger lights than what came with the kit - It was a pain to install. If you get the RE-Amemiya kit, use the lights they give you.
If you dont want to do all the cutting, the C-West is an alternative. you can get them off of ebay all the time.
Here are some pice of the RE-Amemiya Sleek light kit on my FD. There are more pice on my Cardomin site if you want to see more.

The East Bear kit is easier to install due to how the lights are mounted. IIRC I don't think there is any cutting involved. The lights stick up much higher than any other light kit and IMO ruins the smooth profile of the car.
Like other people said, go with C-West or replica C-West if you don't want to cut anything and want an easy install. You sacrifice with the actual lighting though.
Genuine RE Amemiya lights are great, but require cutting just like the Rotary Extreme ones. The down side is that they are very expensive. There are two versions, one with regular halogen lamps and a newer type with actual IPF projectors.
Evo-R is the other popular kit on the forum. The housings are just like Rotary Extreme/RE Amemiya, but the difference is the lights used, which are frankly fog lights like the C-West kit. No cutting required in this kit. Plus side is HID is available, but then you could always upgrade the other kits with an aftermarket HID kit such as Kaixen.
Other much rarer and much more expensive alternatives are R-Magic and Run Racing light kits.
There is also a kit that uses square lights that I think C-Wings is selling, but I'm not sure and I've never heard of anyone using that kit.

I have the Run Racing light kit courtesy of Hashiriya and if your not looking to cut than this kit is not for you, you need to cut the frame and front bumper, your looking at around 40 hours time. On the up side i think they look good and lighting is excellent much better than the rotary extreme one in my opinion.

I had a set of the Rotary Run Racing housings that I got from Chuck. Bought a couple sets of PIAA lights to fit but changed my mind when I found a good deal on the Rotary Extreme ones (did'nt want to cut my front bumper). Spoke to Chuck and he told me the lighting from the RRR kit is better than RE kit 'cause the RRR kit sits lower. Was'nt too much of a big deal to me 'cause I'm going with an HID kit. Install of the brackets was pretty easy to me but, this is most likely because my front bumper was off and I have access to air tools.

Yeah, the RE-Amamiya kit isnt that expensive, unless you get the one with the air duct in the pasanger side light.
