Pic Request... 4 Seater?

My wife is always yelling at me because my little daughter (10 year old) often has to be picked up from school and sometime she has a little friend with her. I can never do it because it always seems like I am driving my RX7 on those days and it only has two seats..

So I see a rear seat set up out of a JDM car for $750 with seat belts. Seems like deal.

Anyone have a picture of 4 people in a RX7?

The back seat must be very comfortable if you chop your legs off before getting in. It looks like less room than a 911.

Lol yeah I put rear seats in mine, only had someone sit in them once they are extremely small, I suppose a child could sit back there eaier than an adult tho.

if anything its a 3 seater, doesn't matter how cramped the passenger is, but would be hard to drive with the drivers seat slid forward...

It takes quite a few parts to do this swap correctly.

Unless it's shipped, $750 is alot for rear seats....too much in my opinion...

You could probably by them up here in Canada for less then $200 just watching kijiji

I'm not sure where you are located cause I'm on my phone, but I would suggest that...

Lots of import companies have them in stock to, if you want 'less hassle'

The back seats are worthless for anyone but a small child. That being said, they do look better in my opinion than all the cheap plastic. I have a car in my shop right now with back seats. I'm 6'1" 240 lbs. I can take a pic of me back there tomorrow hahaha.

Yeah no way your going to be able to drive with someone sitting behind you. You have to be 4 foot tall to have the seat far enough forward. I use the FD as a excuse to not haul people around haha.

I have rear seats in my FD and have had 4 decent sized guys in it..
Its insane uncomfey for everyone involved. (even the driver)
its ok to have a single passenger in the back if they put their bum on one side and their feet on the other.

I've had friend with the JDM back seat, if you are not too tall (under 5'10") and the kids are small, it's a possibility. You probably won't want to do a long car trip like that, but for a quick trip from the school back home you should be fine.

The kids would get a HUGE kick out of it too.

As stated, the hard part can be making sure you have all the parts. Do some searching, it's been covered in the past.

Rare? Not so much, the bins are far more common in the rest of the world . A set of rear seats goes for around £80 over here...So like $130... $750 seems way over priced.

Big problem is the shipping. They're bulky and not terribly light so getting them shipped over to the US is pricey.

Yeah, it would be expensive to ship, but that's a hell of a markup on the prices these fetch in the Japanese or UK market. They must be in high demand .

Fwiw, I shipped a complete set from Canada to Alabama, packaged pretty nicely, huge box and it cost like 350 to ship through ups which was the cheapest.

Just keep that in kind when looking for Canada options

they're not in high demand, which is why they are rare over here. only an idiot would pay $250 or more for them, which is why you rarely see them.

they aren't made for humans to sit in, so if you really need to haul around 3 people then you should just get another car.

I've had 4 people in my car. I'm 5,11, passenger was 6ft, rear seat drivers side 5,8 and behind passenger was 6,4. The lad in the back who was 6,4 got kicked out about a km down the road because everyone was complaining haha

Looked ridiculous from outside the car apparently

not to mention i wouldn't want to hit anything while like that, with your face planted above the steering wheel and airbag due to being crammed in there.

i've had 2 people lay comfortably in the hatch of an FC, the FD might be a little more difficult.

I have them in my FD, i actually think they're quite nice looking. Like others mentioned, they're more for looks than function. But it'll be fine for kids under 10 years old. If you have normal factory seats, then there's almost zero leg room for adults. But with the Spirit-R Recaro bucket seats, there's just enough leg room to sit uncomfortably.

if you buy them, make sure they come with
- entire seat belt set
- plastic side panels (required to install rear seat belts)
- trunk brackets to latch the back cushion
- (optional) back cushion latch cover

w/out these, the seats are useless and unsafe to install.

i recently did an exchange with a gent on this forum, my rear interior for his rear interior, i had the seats and he had the bins.

shipping on his end with UPS was nearly $500 , he had two separate boxes and had UPS package the one and with being from a small town it was harder to get it shipped to myself in canada. i payed just under $400 shipped with one 60" tv box, just made it a tad wider.

this was my second fd with rear seats being jdm and all and i found i wasnt carrying children around and since i dont play to many sports anymore , my soccer and basket ***** dont see the seats either. the rear bins just seems more practical .

i have sat in the back of the rx7 with the seats once. if your over 5 ft tall sit on the floor and place your head to your knees like the fettle position, thats what the back seat passenger is going through
