Question Petrol argh! is this normal?

I am a new, proud owner of a mazda rx7, stunning to look at and drive, but i'll openly admit i know little-to-nothing about cars.

So i've turned to the world wide web to seek help:

Its a 3rd gen 1996 (M reg) Twin turbo.
Totally standard, apart from wide wheels n aloys. I now there hardly ecomonical, but i think its using far too much petrol.

I cant see an obvious button for air con, is there one in that model? if so where?
I've roughly worked out that it costing roughly 40p per mile...surely thats too much? (I'm Praying so)
The car othwise seems totally fine, no strange noises, clanks, banging or whater..idea's anyone

Please help a fool and also confirm that the internet is so much more than ****

Most people here will not know what a p is worth and how much it costs for petrol (in litres or US or Imperial gallons) in the UK, so will have no idea what sort of mileage you are getting. Care to make is simple and work it out for us?

Normal for US FDs is to get between 12 and 20 miles per US gallon.

hi mrtsletters ...im also from the UK mate,,,so i know how expensive it is to run one of these cars....firstly air con,, the button to turn aircon on and off is plain to see on the heater control pannel (the AC is on when the button light is illuminated),, as for gas mileage,, im getting about 75 miles to 20 quid,, thats 50p a mile,,,,,(thats a bit of normal and a bit of booting)
but honestly im quite a baby when it comes to driving my rx7,, and as the engine cost me 1000 quid to build,,,,i dont want to pay out another 1000 quid,,,, i could see that if you booted it quite a lot,,,,you would easy pay 40p a mile mate,,
If you think your RX7 has bad gas mileage you could try a service,, airfilter,,,sparkplugs,, all the oils,,,and the big one i read about a lot is the oxygen sensor in the downpipe,,,apparently when these go bad,,, gas mileage starts to get ****,,,
PM me if you need any help,,

you will get around 200 miles to a full tank of optimax in the UK. This is normal, 15mpg.

They use a lot of petrol...

Just for my own sanity, what the difference between a pound and a quid? And I've noticed that you all are using miles more than kilometers lately. Finally move over to the dark side?

sorry, to answer your first question, a quid is a pound, it's a slang term.

you're wrong.

40p is 40 pence, equivalent to 82 cents per mile (roughly)
