Well, I'm not selling my car...

In class this morning, I was having trouble keeping my head upright I was so tired. Class got out and I hopped in my FD to go home and get some sleep, when I came around a corner I usually do about 30MPH going like 20MPH, lost control, and got a nice under carriage wash.

I paid $15k for it, blue book says its worth $11.5k, and it's totalled. I don't really remember what happened, I remember going around the corner, then realizing I was headed towards the curb, then I was on top of the hydrant. My backpack was floating in the cabin.

I hate life sometimes.

So, instead of selling my FD and buying a WRX, I get to spend my savings paying for this, and have about $2000 left to buy a driver car. Oh, and did I mention I was selling it becuase I was laid off?

That red line points out the water level. It was quite a sight.

One day at work, I was really tired and yawning a lot. One of the customers, a weathered old veteran, pointed his finger at me and said "Go to sleep at nighttime!"

Sorry for your loss, and good luck with your classes.

Ok, one at a time. I was going a little faster, and i think i like feel asleep/passed out due to tiredness cuz im hellov sick, and that made me punch the gas at just the right moment, then when i realized what was going on, i was on the curb.

i usually take this turn a lot faster, and have had the back end kick out on me. never anything i couldnt control, and always much faster. this just all happened perfectly to land me right on top of that hydrant. i think a LOT of it was my being all tired (in my class, i kept on dosing off and waking myself up when my head nodded down) and a little bit of bad luck.

im glad im ok, and im glad noone else is hurt. and as soon as i find out about insurance letting me buy it, ill reply to those who contacted me. i have no idea how much it could cost to buy it back, and the damage i SAW was the front bumper all messed up, the radiator (might have just been mounts, or the front end frame) i think the suspension is jacked, and i dont know what the flange from the hydrant took out when it scraped the bottom of the car. ill ask the body shop about everything, see how much to buy it from insurance, and let ya guys know.

thanks for the condolences, im gonna miss my baby.

You probably don't realise it now but if you had just opend the door the car might have gotten wet but it wouldn't have filled up above the door sil. Oh well if you were a quick thinker you wouldn't have been on the curb any way. Sorry for the loss and good luck with your next purchase.

is it totaled because of the interior/electrical damage, or because of frame damage from hitting the hydrant? if you end up selling it, sell it to TurboJeff, he's brought a few FD's back from the grave, and he did it correctly. he's a good guy.
