petit boost gauge vs pfc

yeah, i have a discrepincy in my boost gauges. the power fc shows consistently higher boost than my petit gauge which is autometer. i see 10 -11 psi on the autometer, and .85-.87 bar and sometimes a spike of .92 bar peek on the power fc. .85 bar should be around 13 psi. i defrinatly do not see that on my petit gauge. any ideas? also, i really dont feel like ym car is making all the power it should be on 13 psi. it feels under 300 whp.

Personally I would trust Osama Bin Laden before Autometer gauges for accuracy.

So I will have to say PFC

The PFC reads in kg/cm^2 not bar and it reads low (causes higher boost) with the base/default settings. The settings can be changed so the boost reading is correct but may require a Datalogit, Mityvac, WBO2 and retuning. More info can be found in the PowerFC forum by searching as it's a common question there.

Damn, that's pretty bad... guess that's why they are so inexpensive.

hmm, im used to bar,,, what is .85 kg/cm? i know 1 bar is 14.7 psi.

edit: arg, i see it, kg/hg2 is 1/14.22 psi. much different than bar. its been awhile since conversions lets see if i remember right:

.85 kg/hg is roughly 12.08 psi. which is what i was seeing when i peak on the autometer... the tops i see on the pfc is .92 bar, but its not sustaining that. that is 13.08 psi by converting in my head. hmm, the gauge may be closer than i thought. it was seeming like it was 2 psi off. il check out that pfc forum. is that the forum for apexi? or this page?

Bar and kg/cm2 are VERY close. 1 kg/cm2 is 14.22 PSI.

http://www.onlineconversion.com/pressure.htm

Convert to your heart's content. kg/cm2 is listed as "kilogram-force/square centimeter", and PSI is "pound/square inch (absolute)".

If you are using the nylon tube and ferrule fittings on the Autometer boost gauge, junk that. The ferrules are only good for one, maybe two compressions and then they leak. Short term, get a brass fitting that will screw onto the back of the gauge and give you a regular barbed nipple for a plain rubber/silicone vacuum line. Long term, think about a new gauge .

yeah, thats what im thinking... i have a 60m apexi gauge laying around. but that wont fit the steering column pod. hmm. guess il have to fork up, in the mean time il watch the pfc. anyways, i stil,l havent even peaked up where my setup should be able to hold. although i think i hit fuel cut at 1.05 kg/cm2. il have to post about this on the apexi forums.

I was just about to post the exact same conversion site as Dale. He also has a good point about the ferrules. They are very difficult to get tight without getting too tight. Both of my boost guages (2 FD's) were leaking when I bought a MityVac and checked them. Autometer guages are cheap but they really aren't as bad as some people would say.
