Passenger window won't work

My passenger window won't work... Nothing happens from the drivers switch or the passenger switch. It was working but just quit suddenly.

I pulled the passenger door panel and applied 12v to the motor plug and the window goes up and down fine.

The drivers side window works fine as well!

Need some advice! Thanks

It is more than likely one of the switches. Have a look at section k1 in the body and electrical manual to troubleshoot the switches to figure out where the problem lies. Should only take a few minutes.

When I had this issue both switches were fine.
It was the big wad of wires that run from the chassis into the door that was the issue for me.
Run power direct to the switch and try it before you fork out for a new one.

What problem was it on yours?

I unplugged that main white plug that passes from the chassis (under dash) out to the door. and looked it over and plugged it together just bypassing the chassis hole and plugging it in direct with the door open to make sure it was getting a good connection when together, but still no change.

If one switch is bad, does that make the other not work (wired in circuit?)

The power wire & the brass pins inside the big white plug had corroded. (the chassis side, not the door side)
I may be wrong but i think the only thing with the driver side that would stop the passenger side working would be the lock switch on the drivers side. (I may very well be wrong with this one, not sure!)

Make sure that the switch to lock out your passenger side controls is operating correctly. I know I hit that by accident all the time and you can't roll the window down from either the drivers side or the passenger side controls. That never made sense to me, since in other cars the lock out switch is to prevent the controls on other windows from working, not from the master switch.

Have you tested that switch for continuity? Have you tried bypassing it? If you can get the window to operate by jumping wires on the harness, then I suspect either the window switch itself is bad or the lock out switch is bad. Try doing a continuity check on the window switch itself as well.

i just hooked an extra battery up to the window motor, i didnt use the wiring in the door... so it could be a power issue.

I'll try the switches tonight, not really good with wiring but i have a multimeter... will have to youtube how to check continuity lol

See the attached picture. Set your multimeter to the symbol shown. With the lockout switch in the off position touch the terminals of the switch. You should see 0 on the multimeter. If you have a multimeter that beeps, it should also beep. The way you can test the window switch is to figure out which wires make it go up or down (completing the circuit). Touch your multimeter to the pins and operate the switch. Again you should see 0 on the multimeter or hear a beep. For that I would recommend using alligator clips for the probes on your multimeter if you have them. Otherwise, you might need an extra hand.

I replaced the passenger window switch. Got it from Malloy Mazda $52 shipped. It solved the problem. When the passenger switch doesn't work I couldn't work it from the drivers side either.

That makes sense. All that stuff is ran in series so if any component along the way fails, it won't complete the circuit. I'm glad you got it worked out.

Yes it will. Passenger will not work if driver's side is not plugged in, but driver's side doesn't care.
