Passed Emissions Test. Hooray!

I just passed the emissions test in TX on my rebuild. After hearing how much trouble many people have had with this, I was pleased so see it pass with such a margin.
Details:

--------------- Limit ----------- High Speed -------- Low Speed
HC ----------- 220 ----------------- 31 ------------------- 69
CO% -------- 1.2 ----------------- 0.06 ----------------- 0.12
Dillution ----- >6 ----------------- 11.1 ----------------- 14.8

Mods
-Rebuild w/ 1300 miles
-Catback
-Highflow Cat
-Downpipe
-Intake
-FMIC
-Everything else is stock

Congratulation!!

If its stock I don't doubt it.
Mine, I had a hard time passing it.

This Fu*c*ing emission is a s*hit system anyway.
Nothing but money making machine.
Here in my state if you fail, you need to go to the Garage that authorize to repair
the problem. As long as you pay $630. if your car still fail, they can write off and let you drive for two years. So, what does this tells you?, its a stupid money making as$holes officials & politicians.

So, give me some tip how to pass it.

Get a cat on the car. And a working airpump and dont run a rich *** map. That is if your car has some sort of aftermarket programmable ecu.

You are da Man!..Congratulations Cgotto6!!..you found "the lost treasure"..Rotary engines are Finicky..but as you said..A Good Cat...an Air Pump..That's half the battle ..tuning is Key too..Totally Agree that emissions is a money Grab..something like the tire recycling they thought up here..turned out the place they were bringing the tire to was Overloaded with them..then a "Mysterious Tire Fire"...recycled allright..right into The Atmoshpere..

emission testing only makes the tree huggin hippies and enviromenalists happy that they are taxing something (untill there 76 vw van fails due to the mushroom cloud of white smokes flowing from the tail pipe. hiding the green peace stickers). i've got a few plans as far as upgrades and i hope that i pass. i'm down in ausitn and at the moment all i've got is an apexi intake, and a stainless down pipe in the bathroom, and a full 3'' on the way with a high flow cat. I hope i have as good of luck as you do. congrats to you.

I failed last week on the first try. waited 15 min. and ran the test again in first gear to 15 mph , shifted to second gesr from 15 mph to 25 mph ended test car passed fine. whats up with that?.... my car is an auto and if you test the car in drive it fails. but if you test it in first and second gears it passes fine almost a (green vehicle). I think if the car goes into overdrive during the test the stock ECU becomes very rich.

I'd like to see some test limit numbers/results from California. What are you guys getting away with?

Another thing: if your engine has bad compression, you'll have a hard time passing too. You'll be spitting a lot of unburned fuel out of your motor (so HC and CO will be up) and into your exhaust stream.

Also: I had my car pre-tested twice (just to see how it would do), one time without my air pump hooked up and another time with it hooked up. CO readings weren't that much different, but HCs dropped by about a factor of 6 with the working pump.

Finally: if the guy loads the engine enought to start boosting, your f*cked. I watched the numbers as the guy was running the car up, and I saw HCs go up by a factor of 10 when the car was boosting (even slightly... about 2-3 psi).

EDIT: to the OG poster, it looks like you would pass here in CA with your numbers. I forgot exactly what they are (I'd have to check paperwork), but I recall max allowable HC as 88 ppm and max allowable CO as 0.5%, and max NO as ~700 ppm... something like that.

autos go into boost very easy under load and yes as Mdpalmer said you will fail as soon as you boost. the readings will go off the charts and into gross polution range I think thats how I failed the first run. the guy punched it and I saw the car fishtailed on the rollers so it must have went into boost.

The emissions test here in TX is much easier than CA since ours is done unloaded. For mine the low speed was done at 720rpm and the high speed at 1274.

What does CA do for OBD-II vehicles? They don't even do a sniffer test here, they just pull the codes. Seems like it wouldn't be hard to fake that test out.
