so i came out after buying groceries today at 7pm and i walk toward my car which is like 200 ft away, its getting dark and as i get closer i look and theres this 7-8 yr old kid facing my fd at the drivers fender side leaning against it with his arms stretched out on the fender and hood like he's trying to hug my car.. wth and then he starts like rubbing his arms on the hood. im like HEY!. and he runs into his moms parked suv. i put my groceries in the passenger seat and then the mom comes out and says "im sorry. he likes touching your car!" then he comes out with his grandma and as they walk to the store he turns around and says "im sorry sir "

and im like "its cool its alright. but u better run cuz im about to run your sorry *** over" okay i didn't say that last part..

anyone have similar experiences... damn if my paint wasn't already old and shitty i woulda whooped him for real

On the way home I had like six people in random craptacular cars trying to catch up with me on the freeway just to give me thumbs up.

Its my first experience of people actually ADMIRING my car! NORMAL people! I have the usual enthusiasts who always liked my (admittedly super clean) FB, but this was just WOW to me!

i once overtook a car on the freeway. It sped right up, and kept overtaking me and slowing down and letting me overtake it. I paid no attention, until i realised it was some women getting their **** out! Wohoo!!!

^ lol thats pretty funny, i was stoped at a stop light and this mom in her suv w/ some kids in it pull up next to me... i can see out of the corner of my eye that they are lookin at me so i glance over and the mom rolls down her window and she asked me if i could burnout for her son... so i told her yes (couldnt let the little one down ) so when the light turned green i went for it, luckly no cops around (knock on wood). they caught up to me and the kid had the biggest smile on his face lol. pretty much the only encounter w/ that type of thing, ufortunetly people only really notice muscle cars...

at sema last year i had a couple of people open my car to look inside since my windows are tinted.

also people leaning on my car or holding onto the roof with their arm out the window really bothers me. maybe because i have a small ding on the passenger side above the window from somebody holding on for dear life.

some dude in a F355 was checking out my car and gave me a thumbs up on rt29 in Fairfax a few months back.

usually i just get blank looks or stares from people. or comments (good ones) from teens in their cars or teens passing by while i wash and wax. i made a good impression on this guys g/f (who was driving him around) while sitting at a light on braddock rd. she asked what it was, how much HP i had, etc.

it seems that most people in the northern VA/D.C. area try to fly past me like they have something to prove, or give dirty looks, or pretend like im not there. they all seem to think that theyre better than the next guy.

A few times actually but just usual thumbs up from other drivers and "Is that an RX-7 or RX-8 (!!!)?" while at a red light.

FDs...still one of the BEST looking cars on the road despite it's 12+ year old car. It's a timeless design! ^_^

This guy in a 350Z was pacing me...and I wouldn't look over, because I didn't want to race him. He kept creepin' up and slowing down, so finally I look over and he just gives the thumbs up! It was awesomely nice.

plenty of stories like that in the last 4 years...this was just the most recent.

I have gotten business cards under my door handle..."IF YOU EVER WANT TO SELL THIS CAR" with their phone# circled...makes your day, no doubt.

Like everyone else, I get the "thumbs up", people trying to race/pace me, and the occasional gawking. What really sticks out in my mind, is the day I bought my FD. I flew to Memphis to pick her up and drive her home. As I was waiting in the parking lot for the "previous to be" owner to come and give me the keys, some little kid came up to me and said, "Gee Mister, that sure is a puuurdy car! That yours? How much you pay fer it." Blah blah blah. I was taken aback by so many questions from a little kid.

i was pulled over by a cop for speeding (55 on a 45, on a downhill!) so when the cop pulled me over he said "Is this your car?" and of course I said "This old thing? Yea it's mine" The FDs just look nice overall. So the cop just said "That's a nice care, take good care of it." I hope that would of taken me off the ticket!

I know exactly what you mean. Everywhere I go on the toll road or 28, it's like camrys and hondas are always trying to impress me by cutting me off or doing ricer flybys when I'm just cruising to/from work, etc. Why are they trying to get my attention, are they trying to impress me or something??

then my parents 80yr old neighbor saw it, and said, "now that's a sexy car". Blew my mom away, hahaha!

My story came on the very first day I got the car. I bought my first FD from a guy in Conneticut, (I'm in Indiana). So I had problems with the guy & was getting very frustrated. I go to pick up the car... long story short... seller = a-hole... car was impounded... so after all sorts of hassle in CT getting the car out of impound... I'm winching it onto the trailer (didn't have keys yet... so that made things fun...). Plus, the guy lied about the condition of the paint job, as the car needed a full body re-paint. Anyway... I get it on the trailer & some guy comes up to me... "is that a viper", very impressed with the car. Remind you... the paint looked terrible. So I'm still working on getting it strapped down, & a different guy comes up to me and asks if the car is for sale. So the car is ready to go, I eventually meet up with that a-hole seller & get the keys & get reimbursed for the impound charges. Then on the long trip home, I pull off to fill up the gas tank, & a car full of app. 20yr old guys passes me & all of their heads turn to check out my new car. All this attention... from a car sitting on a trailer... with a CRAPPY paint job... really put a smile on my face. Makes me wonder what things will be like when I'm driving the car with a perfect new paint job...

But to finish the story of the a-hole seller... turns out he didn't have clean title to the car... as he never registered the title in his name. He bought the car, & never registered it. So after he told me that he wouldn't title it, meaning I couldn't title it... I sent the lawyer after him... so 6 months later, I can FINALLY title MY new car. He's lucky that car was going into storage anyway... I would have been even more pissed had I been planning on driving it!

I have one good story and one bad story to tell. The bad first...

So I pull into a gas station and start pumping gas when this guy walks up to me and starts complimenting my car and we have a pretty good talk about FDs. Then this teenage blabbermouth valley girl walks over and starts going "OOH MY GAWD, is this your caaaa? Wow, I've never seen a Ferrari this up close! Like, how much power does this Ferrari make???" My jaw just dropped but the other guy looked at her and just rolled his eyes. Normally when your car is compared to a supercar it could be taken as a compliment, but when it came from an obviously brain dead person, I'm not so sure anymore.

As for the good experience, this Previa van pulls up to my left side. The passenger in the van rolls down his window and looks really hard at me and then says, "Hey! I can take your car! Wanna run?" Then he cracks up and starts laughing as he finishes his sentence and throws me a big thumbs up. I throw him a peace sign before driving off. That had me laughing for a couple of minutes.

I get a lot of stares and thumbs up when I drive mine around. When it's parked outside my apartment quite a few people have walked up to it and tried to look thru the windows. I plan to keep mine forever.

it seems like everyone gets a lot of thumbs up. i've had average about 2 of those thumbs up on fwys every month since last June when i picked up this FD. or people rolled down window and compliment on surface streets. a couple of evo's, 350z and civic hb turbo try to get my attention w/ their bov and as soon as i turn over, they stick up their thumb.

most extreme one for me is probably this fugly fixed up neon full of highschool kids starring on the fwy, and then 2 or 3 of them stuck their arms out of the window w/ their cell phones taking pictures.. lol..

I have had many complements and thumbs up for my FD.

Regarding the rubbing/hugging of the FD, I have had many women come up to my car and just start rubbing the paint. Seems like there all in there 30's or early 40's and I just sit there and wonder why the hell would they do this? It's great that they like the FD, but going up to a nice car and rubbing it? I am more worried about he paint, but if they want to rub so be it!

back when I had a red FD, I got lipstick marks on my windows a couple times, though I'm not sure if it was the car or someone doing it cuz they knew I owned it.
