don't get much love at all - but then, it's japan - so it's not the most uncommon car about (here, it's probably the corvettes, etc, that get what you guys are experiencing).

occasionally we see a family-filled van stopped next to us, faces staring, fingers pointing... but half the time they're probably saying 'wow, look ma, there's whiteys in that rx-7..."

well around where i live i get lots and lots of stares and pointing. People are always staring. I take it up to some of the car shows we have and put it around all the nice old muscle cars and surprisingly almost none of them mind and most of them look. The only thing that makes me mad is that someone did a hit and run number on my passenger door and now i have to ge the whole car painted.

couple of months ago, traffic was real bad and i was stuck in the middle of the pack. all of a sudden a bunch of kids walk toward my car and starts a photoshoot with their cellphone... in the middle of traffic. and then more pedistrian jumped onto the street with their cameras.... I felt like a celeb and a caged animal at the same time hahhahaaa

LOL. Yeah, not to change the subject, but whenever I visit my relatives in Tochigi-ken, I get pointed at by little kids, "Look it's a Whitey!". I'm half Japanese but look pretty white.

one time some guy parked next to me asked me if it was a miata. i felt like puching him.

the best memory was right after i had gotten my car and was driving home. there was a subie wagon loaded with punk rockers waiting to turn onto the road i was on. i didnt really notice it 'til i saw that everyone (plus the driver) in the car had atleast half of there body out of the car's windows. they were pointing and reaching for it even though they were like 20 feet away. i just smiled. they followed me down the road, still outside of the car. it was pretty cool.

I was at a local buffalo wild wings on a sunday afternoon with some friends. After we finished eating I saw a whole family surrounding my car (father, mother daughter and son). Neither of the children were even of the age to drive but they were the ones most amazed by the car. As I got closer they assumed I wanted a look at the car too till they finally figured out that it was my car. I got great compliments but luckily no rubbing on the paint

Thanks for the funny stories.
I bought my car when i was 18 and still in high school. so the cool thing for me was cruising. i took it down 'the strip' and had a pontiac with two girls following me. so when i stop at a light, the driver tells me to roll down the window. i roll it down and she says nice car. i say thanks and ask if she knows what it is. she says 'yea its an RX-7' i go 'woah' and she asks for a ride. i think to myself 'hmm, hot girl+my FD=good time to be had.' sure. so i pull over and both the girls get out. i ask them if they know its a 2 seater, and one of them says 'oh its okay, she can sit on my lap.' dream come true. my dream car and two girls and me driving my dream car. aww life was good as a llittle boy. i ended up with their numbers but only called one back. she ended up posing on my car for some pictures. i had to throw the pictures away when my then gf found them so there gone and lost forever, but not in my head.
i always get the viper and the occasional supra questions. i actually thought about putting a sticker on my driver side window that said 'says its a rotary and yes its twin turbo' cause those were the stupid questions i always got. but, not everyone knows RX-7s so i take the question as compliments now.
i love when theres a group of kids standing around it and i walk up and join the group to listen to the comments. you get the dumbest comments there, cause there is always one kid who knows everything about RX-7's so when i correct him, possibly argue, then jump in it and drive away, the look of 'oh, i was just owned' is priceless. try it sometime.
keep the stories coming.

While at a stop light, a guy on the sidewalk starts talking to me, and he said,

"that is the nicest, most unique car to ever come out of Japan...***NOT*** the NSX"

Last summer I had a Guy in a Porsche GT3 (Full rollcage and in RUF trim) pull up next to me, he gave a thubs up and said, "Wow, nice car.....I've always wanted one of those." I said " Same to you and thanks for the complement......wanna trade?" he laughed, said "it's tempting" and pealed off.

I dont think I have ever felt more cool than at that moment!

I have gotten that several times, even a Ferrari 575M every once and a while(thanks to the RE headlights and SCOOT hood). Anyway, I had a guy came up to me with all his buddies around while I was trying to get some Icecream. He asked if my Dad knew that i was driving his Viper? I laughed really hard and said, "sorry, my car is 10 cilnders short of a viper.....and does your mom know you are driving her Civic?"

Well, that both confuesd and pissed him off. I should have kept the last part of that to myself, it almost got me into a fight with him and his friends!

I get looks all the time, never had a thumbs up though. I was getting out of my car with my gf one time and an old man comes up and says "Nice Mazda, its a Miata right?", I've never been complimented and insulted at the same time before. Not to long ago I went into a sandwich shop with some friends, and after making my sandwich all the workers ran up to the window and were gawking at the rx7 parked WAYYYY back there. I didnt say anything, but when I drove by they all ran out and were pointing and such. I also get, is that a v8, is it turbo, TWO TURBOS??!?!, is it new, is it fast....etc Its a great convo starter and chick magnet, and scares all of the vette owners

I was driving to the local EB with my girlfriend last Saturday and was stopped at a light. An Elise was waiting at the light in the oncoming lane facing me. So I admire his car, not really looking at the guy (the Elise is my dream car). As the light turns green is start to pull out slowly, and my girl says "check out the guy in the Elise." I look at the guy driving the Elise and he's staring at my car with his mouth open and a weird look of confusion like "what is that?" He actually was turning his head back around looking at my car to try and figure out what the badging said. Funny how a clean, stock RX7 can keep up with some of the hottest cars, even now. That made my day.

Lol, I get that all the time, every time a new person sits in my car, I have to give them a tutorial on how to open the doors after they just sit and stare at the door for like 40 seconds.

I was also changing my brakes in my front yard once, the car was on jack stands. This guy in this new maxima pulls over on the street running in front of my house, rolls down his passenger window, and asks "how much you want for the RX7?" I smiled and said "not for sale". As he drove by, his girl smiled and said "nice car".

I only really ever got the thumbs up from another RX7 owner on a chance encounter once. Most of the time it's really looks of confusion or random teenage girls walking by while I'm parked asking for rides.

When I went home over X-mas break, I was driving my RX7 to Olive Garden to meet my girlfriend there. As I went through the parking lot, I lifted off of the throttle, but left it in 1st gear (only going 10mph) and my car popped a little flame. (I had a garbo, rich tune). After I park, I walk up to the front doors to go in. There is some guy in his 20s standing outside and right as I walked by him he said, "Dude, I think that your vette's cats aren't working right. It smells like your running very rich." I just said what cats, and kept walking.

Girls calling in heat honking, winking, blowing kisses out the window face stuck gaulking and giving naughty looks at both car and driver. Lots and lots of love.

Driving a FD in SF sure gets alot of attentions. While picking up my gf from school, all students, including guys and girls and TEACHERS, were staring at us as i picked up my gf. When I drive around the city, I get many thumbs ups. Oh the most unforgotten experience i had was when i bought my lambo kit, installing it outside my house, neightbors, mid 20s came up to me and said, great car with such a nice door kit. Gave me a hand shake and walked away. I had a huge smile on my face for the rest of my day. I cant wait to put my new GTC (the whole kit including the GTC diffuser) with HID and 99 spec combo and a new paint job on. I will definately post some pix after it is done. I cant wait till i can get some girls roll down their windows and give me a kiss ;-) and make my gf glare @ them!!! haha

Just yesterday I had a guy walking by while i was cleaning the FD's interior ask if it was fast then ask how fast the gauge said. I told him 180MPH and he was like "OH DAMN!".

Also the first day I got my FD I was just out cleaning it and someone rolled up and asked if I was selling it...just like dude I just got it!

Really? I've had a FD for the last seven years and lived in SF the whole time, no one pays attention whatsoever anymore. Around the time when that Furious movie came out I got a lot of attention, but since then, none.
