oiled intake?

So I just read that the apexi power intake is not supposed to be oiled, it is dry type. However, I sprayed some on there...is this a problem for it?

damn, I'm reading that oil could be clogging up the smaller pores in these filters. so whats the best way to get it off? the filters feel pretty gummy and nasty

also how do you fit the brackets that came with the filters? I can't seem to find a place for them to fit.

Well there probably is no way to get it back off you could try soaking it in dish soap. i would say buy a new set of filters they can't be that much. I don't have that kit so I can't help you install it but you could search for pictures or the instructions on the net.

I used to race motocross and that involves a lot of filter cleaning. They make specific products to clean oil and dirt from foam filters. TwinAir actually makes a nice filter cleaning kit. But if you don't wanna go down to a bike shop, pour some gas in a clean container and get the filters all soaked in the gas and gently wring it out. Continue to repeat the process till you get all the oil out. Let dry and there you have a nice clean, dry filter.

hmm that looks good but it is a cone filter rather than a foam filter...does it still work the same?

now my idle is going up and down strangely...hope this isnt affecting my car

The meshy **** that keep a cone filter in shape makes it a bit harder to clean but if you soaked it down with gas/solvent and give it a blow dry with the air hose that should do the trick. As far as the idle, I really doubt that a small amount of oil going through the intake is going to cause an idle surge. Id check around for a vacuum leak in the intake region since you were playing there
