ok, I understand that it is more than 99.9999999% likely oil pressure guage acting up is probably due to the sending unit.
What happens if the oil pressure regulators fail? I tried to search on how the oil system operates-specifically the regulators, but I couldn't find any thing useful.
Can some one chime in on how they operate and what would happen if they malfuction?
Thanks,

Yes, you just unscrew it. Don't forget to unplug the wire going to it first . Only a very small amount of oil will drip out. The oil passage going to the sending unit is small in diameter and elevated from the oil pan so oil is not going to pour out. You'll have to use a wrench at the fitting to get it off (I forget the size).

I also used some teflon tape to seal the threads (three wraps), but afterwards thought about the fact that it grounds to the engine. Apparently I am grounded enough to get a good reading anyway.

You cannot miss it. It is located about 3 inches below the oil filter pedestal. It is about 2" long and 1 1/2" round with a gray rubber boot covering it (usually) and one wire (black connector) connected to the end of it. The stamped steel end is in the shape of a nut 30 mm size. I am at work and have no pictures.
