ok, I understand that it is more than 99.9999999% likely oil pressure guage acting up is probably due to the sending unit.

What happens if the oil pressure regulators fail? I tried to search on how the oil system operates-specifically the regulators, but I couldn't find any thing useful.

Can some one chime in on how they operate and what would happen if they malfuction?

Thanks,

You'll have to use a wrench at the fitting to get it off (I forget the size).
30 mm outside wrench size. Also, you can unscrew at the shaft with a 14mm (I think) but it is easier to get the large wrench or socket. I just changed mine out the other day with another spare one. It took all of 5 minutes. My old one only worked when the RPM's were above 1500-3000 and warmed up. Otherwise it would stick and read almost zero. Spare one worked fine.

You cannot miss it. It is located about 3 inches below the oil filter pedestal. It is about 2" long and 1 1/2" round with a gray rubber boot covering it (usually) and one wire (black connector) connected to the end of it. The stamped steel end is in the shape of a nut 30 mm size. I am at work and have no pictures.

I also used some teflon tape to seal the threads (three wraps), but afterwards thought about the fact that it grounds to the engine. Apparently I am grounded enough to get a good reading anyway.
