Oil Pressure Gauge

Ok, i used search and i've not found the answer to my question as of yet.

My oil pressure gauge doesn't work, the pressure sending unit is new, i've cleaned the connections and used dielectric jelly. still no pressure showing, yet it worked before i replaced the engine. Anyone have any thoughts as to what else it could be?

maybe the sensor wire ripped when re installing the engine? check the wire. also i heard the oil pressure guage is not high quality and that it should be replaced. try buying an autometer one maybe that will fix it.

also, can anyone give me tips on removing the sending unit? i can't get to the smaller nut at the base but i think i can get the real big one near the connection, what size is this and it must be metric because none of my american socket fit thanks...

Break the problem into units and test each unit.
What happens when you ground the sending unit wire to a good chassis ground? Will the guage show a reaction? If not then the wiring between the sending unit and the guage is not connected or there is a power problem with the guage feed voltage. If it reacts to the grounding then the sending unit is the problem ( yes new can be bad).
Hope this helps.
