The oil pressure senders are notoriously flaky. 9 times out of 10, the problem is the sender has gone south, not the oil pressure.

You can test with a manual oil pressure gauge to double-check, or just bite the bullet and buy a new oil pressure sender from Mazda.

A new sender unit is about $100. One of the cheapest things I've ever purchased for the FD.

give you confidence to drive with the real oil pressure showing.
I watched the mechanic replace my sender. Looks like would be easy to do ones self.
Now have good oil pressure showing.
