Oil pan removal question

ONce I have the oil pan loose, all bolts removed etc....

How do I get it out???

right now, this is what i did

I have the car on stands,

took the jack and lifted the transmission to give me clearance...(I dont have an engine lift so I figured this would work and it did, am i goign to break anything doing this?) anyways, I got the engine mounts out and got all the screws off the oil pan, I took a flat head and separated the pan from the block.... Now, I cant figure out how the hell to get the oil pan out, im so close but soo far!!!

what should i do??

support engine with jack under trans. remove the 2 motor mount nuts and washers. unbolt steering rack, 4bolts. Drop the sub frame, 4 nuts and 2 bolts.

do what they said. i wedge a short section of 2x4 between the subframe and the frame to hold the subframe down without hanging on it. usually comes out pretty easy with this method. be careful not to damage the oil pick up tube. just try some different angles and it will come out.

If I remove the front tires will this make it easier to remove the steering rack?

WHen I remove all these bolts will the entire subframe fall out?

You don't need to remove the tires. The steering rack isn't removed, just unbolted from the sub frame. And no it will not fall out, the lower control arms are still connected to it. just pull down on it and you can get the pan out

A couple of hours ago I was able to slide the pan out without dropping the subframe. Basically you just need to lift the engine and transmission high enough to slide the oil pan out backwards, under the bellhousing. You might want to disconnect the oil lines going to the cooler(s) first, I didn't and mine got pretty stretched. Just thought I'd put it here for any future forum searchers to find.

i just finished mine, drop the subframe its not hard to do at all. for mine i used a engine lift and supported the engine, unbolt the motor mounts, lift the engine another 2" or so... not to bad

just watch out for the pick up tube. if it seems like it is hanging up on something that may be it.
