It's recommended not to use the gasket. Most people have luck with Honda Bond or Permatex The Right Stuff.

I can't count the amount of oil pan gaskets i have replaced, and i have found only a few RTV's that work well. The best of which is made by GM. Part # is 12378521

I use hondabond, it works very well. I'd also recommend getting a pan brace as well, a garfinkle if you can find them.

Don't "cake" it on, use it properly. Make sure to wait at least 24 hours before putting oil back in.

Hondabond says to wait 3 days to cure. I don't want to chance having to do it again since its a pain in the ***, so i always wait.

my pan is leaking too.. I fear it's cuz it's not perfectly straight after removing it for a rebuild...

i'm considering purchasing a banzai oil pan brace...

do I have to pull the motor to install it? or just hoist it up off the mounts?

Use THE RIGHT STUFF and not regular rtv. I have used honda bond in the past but have had better luck with Teh Right Stuff. I also have 2 Garfinkle Oil pan braces available if any body needs them with all the mounting bolts.

We have brace kits in stock and ready to ship, comes complete with the studs, nuts and bolts for installation.

The engine does not have to be removed for installation.

Yup. Gafinkle brace and good RTV no leaks. Make sure you clean the surfaces very well and flatten out any uneven parts of the pan w/ a hammer.

Good info, I also need to order a brace. I don't want to ever deal with the oil pan leaking, the brace would also help tuff up the block to from twisting right?

To a degree, but i still managed to twist mine with a brace and made it leak again, but that was from an 8100 rpm launch with about 5 psi of boost on et streets. The track was really nice and sticky too, so not quite normal circumstances.

will the brace prevent the problem of the oil leak caused by using 2 steel motor mounts?

The brace does not prevent the leaking from the two steel motor mounts. The brace is only to reinforce the thin oil pan (straighten it up and seal better if used correctly).

Wrong. It is 3/16th steel plate pressing against the pan where the aluminum mount would have had the "nub".

Does the Banzai brace have a grove cut or milled in for the pinch rail between the bolt holes on the pan ?
