Most conventional oil filters use a filter medium that is made of cellulose – typically wood fiber – and polyester fibers. The Mobil 1 High Efficiency Oil Filter adds fiberglass fibers to the medium. In contrast, the synthetic components of Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic motor oil are chemically synthesized liquids.
The synthetic fibers in the Mobil 1 High Efficiency Oil Filter yield the following key benefits:
A much more efficient filter, removing more particles per pass through the filter than conventional filter media.
Less resistance to oil flow, reducing the potential for the filter to restrict the flow of oil to your engine.
I believe Fram TG series uses the same if not similar materials. Both have awesome seals that allows hand loose and hand tighten for removal and installation.

Or is this a cut-and-paste from a Mobil 1 website?

The second gen. filters at Canadian Tire are fairly long (different than the Mazda filters). The 3rd gen filters they have are tiny - smaller than the Mazda filters. I bought the 1st gen filter. They all have the same base. I presume they all function the same (based on having one on my car when I got it with no problems). Bigger should be better (if it fits). Up to now I've been using the Mazda filters. Pretty blue, but what are they?

In Canada, the Mazda filters are nothing more than Fram filters painted blue and downsized to that of a thimble. I exaggerate the small size of course, but alarmingly not by much.
I've had good luck with the Purolator filters, but lately I've been using AC Delco--- available in Canada at Walmart for a measly $4. (Prices up here are about 35% higher than those in the states).
