Oil Filler Neck
Hi Everyone,
I'm working on relocating the oil filler neck and have a few questions.
What is the square box for? Is it ok if I delete it when I'm running new piping?
Circled in red:

Also, does anyone have any recommendations on the best way relocate it? I'm thinking the easiest would be to get some plastic tubing and use plastic specific epoxy to join pieces together. I could also have a flange made and then have someone weld me one out of pipe. The problem with this method is that I don't have a threaded piece of metal to accept the cap. I also don't have a welder, so plastic would be easier, any thoughts on this?
I'm planning to relocate it to one of the spots cirlced hear, but most likely to the rear of the UIM (I would run the new pipe under the UIM and then upwards.
(Not my car)

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

Just curious, why are you relocating it?
I'm not sure what you need to accomplish exactly, but I like the idea of getting some round plastic tubing, same size, thickness, and able to take oil & heat. Then
disecting the OEM pc. , perhaps even angles for routing. I would joint the edges of the plastic tubing like the top of a rooke chess pc. so they fit together solid & use a good epoxy for gas/oil & heat.
Probably what you were already thinking.
I dont like the idea of mounting it in front though myself.
Wheres the catch can goin. Nice lookin pc.

Thanks for the quick comments, definitely appreciate the help. I didn't explain why I'm doing it because I'm afraid it will throw this thread way off topic and I will end up not getting any insight. But I'll tell everyone, just please try to stay on topic, I'll have a separate thread eventually that shows the whole project.
I'm working to twin-charge the car (T78 turbo, already installed, adding an Eaton M62 supercharger). The super charger will mount in the same general area as the power steering pump (now removed), but its just long enough that the intake on the supercharged requires that I relocate the oil filler neck (somewhere to the rear of the engine bay, or under the UIM to the other side of the alternator). It's really working out the smaller details such as the filler neck issue that are consuming most of my time, the charger is just about in its final mounting place.
This definitely seems like the easiest route (especially since I don't have a welder and would have to pay someone to do that for me). Any idea on what type of plastic the stock neck is made out of, just want to make sure whatever I use is similar.
No catch can plans yet, most likely will be located in the front of the engine bay.
Due to the supercharger location, it can't be moved forward.
Again, please save any questions about the supercharger or twin charged design for my upcoming build thread.

I kinda like GUREW's idea just a little foward. Should look good, and be functional.
I would try to leave UIM as open & easily accessable as possible. Its just nice when you can pull the UIM quick and easy and in a few pcs.. My opinion.
Some pictures would be killer dude.
Good luck.

Didnt see your post it must have come up while I was typing.
Supercharger huh. Well I see why you didnt mention it. However, I say to each his own and the more unique the better I suppose. How about bringin it out toward the inner fender and then up, like just between the middle/inner and rear/
outer shock tower bolt. Hey, I like that.

Not a bad idea, but unfortunately I don't really have that much room in that area.
I've got few things that obstruct that part of the bay (in order of hardest to change):
1. The picture you posted doesn't show the fuse box that sits inside the shock tower
2. I have the TEC GT ems, and all of my coils are located back there by the master cylinder & brake booster, which means all of my spark plug wires run down through that area as well.
3. The meth lines running to the greddy elbow along there
4. The boost controller solenoid is mounted there
So i really have no option but to move it to the rear of the UIM. There's plenty of room to go under the UIM (I have no rats nest as I'm already converted to single turbo), and there is room between the firewall and the back of the UIM for a pipe to come up.
Does anyone have any insight regarding the square box incorporated in the stock neck? I think it must be some kind of chamber to help keep oil from coming up into the two nipples on the top of the neck. If I cut that part out to relocate the neck, would that cause problems?

Got any pictures of that engine bay current setup?

Behind the UIM would be unique, maybe one of a kind even.
I would try to find some ABS plastic, same size, etc..
I wouldnt worry about the box on the OEM neck.

I would not bother with molding plastic, just pick up a metal FC or Cosmo 13b-re/20B oil filler neck and modify it as you see fit.
Here is one I made for the 20B to do relocate it the the rear of the TB http://www.banzai-racing.com/20B/Par...iller_neck.jpg

I do like the Banzai one no doubt, strong lookin pc. bro.
I wasnt thinkin like that, I've only seen 1 or 2 FC's under the hood ever. Seen lots of FD's though.
I'd have to go w/the Banzai idea so far if it were me.
