Oil control ring or leaky fuel injectors

Well my car started having smoking issues where at high rpm if I let off the gas it would make a smoke screen

I figured ok the twins are going bad they made noises when they spooled so I took the time and decided to go single

Got the car running yesterday took it for a drive and same smoke screen

I also noticed something ... that when ever it does the smoke screen my afr gauge shows around 15 afr and than eventually goes to nill when it shows afr there is smoke when it goes to nil there is no smoke . It goes from smoke to nill around 4k rpm so below 4.5k no smoke at all above it starts to smoke

But the smoke is noticeably blue .

The engine has around 8k miles after a fresh rebuild compression vacume everything is good it starts right up cold or hot .

Does smoke give afr readings when off throttle and it's burning in the exhaust or is it leaky injectors

If it is said injectors anyone know a place that cleans stock fd injectors they are bored out to 1250 cc

Not a fan of bored out injectors.

Marren or Witchhunter have always been great to deal with for cleaning fuel injectors.

What did your metal oil control rings look like prior to the build? How many miles were on them and how much concentric wear? Mazda spec is 0.5mm at the most.

Change the oil, add lucas oil stabilizer. My rotaries always smoke on decel with crap oil in them. But, they are also very high mileage engines that get beat on very often.

I run Mobil 1 15-50 in all my old school engines with great success, not sure about newer stuff like the FD.

I didnt do the rebuild but the core that was used was very low miles

Are you using synthetic oil? Is the oil at the right level? Where is your oil pressure at when you smoke? Did you replace the oil injectors with the rebuild? just brainstorming...

when all this issue started was when my Fuel pump started going bad it would sometimes detonate from going lean I tried various things until I discovered it was the fuel pump and thats when the smoking started

there were a couple occasions of detonation . thankfully they were always light throttle as in cruising or while neutral free reving after trying to see if my issue was fixed . when I tried something new .

Eventually it ended up being the fuel pump my old pump was only about a year old so I kept avoiding that .

But now I'm wondering if the detonation caused the oil control rings to blow .

they are currently vented I thought about this so I left it vented to air just to make sure it wasnt the issue

Detonation will not cause oil control ring failure.

about a year , i'm not sure I dont think so , But everything was fine until a couple months back when the fuel pump started to go bad and caused some light throttle detonation

all issues started there , turbos started making noises , and smoke started

So if the oil control rings went its because of that .

could be the seal carriers were worn, an oil seal got pinched and cut, the springs were installed backwards, or your crankcase isn't vented properly.

you should really just change the oil and run stabilizer and report back... this is a common problem in the 1st gen section, and fresh oil+lucas always helps...

on my own engine it stopped the smoke altogether, and mine was doing the same thing. Blue smoke at high rpm, only when the engine was on decel.
