Normal Voltage?

What should the voltage on the car be with no load. Mine is only 13.4v after the idle is steady and maybe around 13.6 with a load and I am driving. Well while reversing out of my driveway with the lights lights on and my a/c on my voltage has dropped below 12v. Is my alternator going bad?

I have a rock solid 14.3 volts pretty much all the time -- according to the PFC. The only time it dips down into the 13s are when I run the fans after shut down.

Perhaps your battery and/or alternator are starting to give up the ghost.

Mine fluctuates between 13.6-13.4 at most times.

when idling with the ac on it flutters down to the mid 12s.

mine also fluctuates between 13.6 - 13.0

it never hits the 12's unless i have the fans on high with the car off.

So do you guys think that there is a problem with my alternator? I used to think that most cars do around 14.4 while on and no load.

It could also be grounding.

Can I check the voltage anywhere in the system or is there a certain place I need. I'm pretty sure my voltage is on the low side.

do you have an underdrive pulley? mine is around 12 usually at idle and 13s when cruising. I have an underdrive pulley. Never have any problems starting the car. Only problem is that my WB doesn't function under 13.8.

No underdrive pulley or at least not that I know of. Usually they are anodized aren't they?

yep, i think its a grounding issue as well. thats what happen to my car at least. to ground your car is very simple, just grab the lowest gauge wire you can find and start to connect as many points of the body and engine and battery together as possible (neg side of battery only )

I'm having a hell of a time finding ring connectors that fit the 6 guage wire I bought. As soon as I can find some we'll know if my problem is grounding or my alt
