It seems I'm getting no boost in first gear, when I go to 2nd I see boost between 2700-4000rpm and it flows through to 10psi ( preset ) nicely.
I was thinking that maybe its my clutch slipping? would I still boost even if this was the case?

 

Clutch will be more likely to slip in 2nd than first.

 

If the problem just seems to be in 1st or 2nd gear, check the Turbo Control Actuator and Solenoids (there are two solenoids).
