new turbos or single conversion???
new turbos or single conversion???
My fd has about 170,000 miles on her.She has a fresh atkins streetport motor, but original turbos. They are tired i can feel it.Should i just get them rebuilt,Or new aftermarket ones,Or just convert to a single???
personally is this even a question...?? for the price get a single, if your worried about driveabilty just get a 60-1 turbo and it wont have that much lag..
i wouldnt rebuild the turbos if i were you..
but honestly what i would do, for the money send your turbo into bryan at BNR and have him upgrade them to stage 3's then you get new twins that are way more cappable than the stockers, and its great cause all the stock parts still work on it!! thats what id do personally!!

What all is done to the car currently?
Mahjik has hit it just right.
What is your target rear wheel horsepower goal?
What are the current mods?
Going single + all the goodies is going to be a more expensive than just putting in a used set (or rebuilt set) of twins.

A nice set of NEW turbos with the later 99+ design can be purchased from RX7.com for about $2,300 and installed with no other changes. BNR Turbos are about the same price or a little more and also bolt right in but you can potentially make a bit more power on the BNRs by running more boost - provided you have a good tuner and supporting fuel and flow mods.
Single turbo will require much more time, effort and money.
