Need Help installing Autometer Vacuum Boost Gauge...

Please help... I need descriptive instructions and pictures if possible of how to install my new boost gauge. It is mechanical , not electronic, although I do need to hook power up for the lights.
Thanks,

If you've never done it before, you don't know where to start.

I have the same gauge on my car, it came with it.

The boost line was run through the firewall by the steering wheel gasket, they just poked a tiny hole there and ran it through.

Yea just runa line from the upper intake plenium through the firewall and up to the a pillar and once you get hat fitted on you can tap into the fuse panel there for any 12v you so choose.

The standard trick for illumination is to use the ashtray bulb. There are 2 wires, my Autometer used both (1 for ground, the other for power).

Yea, Ashtray Light all the way.
And my stock hose whouldn't fit over the nipple, on the UIM so I got a different fitting (1/4") for the back of the guage and ran a silicone hose anyway. Also going through the steering boot.

For thick lines, there is another route. I have replaced my Autometer with a Defi, soe it has a thick 1/2" line. I didn't want to make a hole that big in the steering boot.

Take of driver's front wheel, then remove the rear liner. You have to remove about 7+ screws and at least that many staples. You will be pleasantly surprised to find a huge unused plastic/rubber cap that leads in behind some of the fuses. You can route across the back of the bay and follow some wires that go down into that area. The best way I found to find the wire inside is sit with your back to sill and reach right hand over in front of dead pedal and start fishing.

The ciriani website has a pretty good walk through.

Start off by pulling back on the A-pillar--just grip it like I did in the pic and use your other hand to peel back the rubber lining and get a grip on the lower part of the A pillar. Slowly pull it out, and once the fasteners on the inside come off just pull up on A pillar.

I drilled a hole through the A pillar big enough for the white nylon vacuum hose. Just route it through the opening that leads into where the pedals are. Then just feed the nylon hose through the steering boot...my hose was good enough to come out on the other side where I could reach it.

You'll need a length of 5/32" vacuum hose, the length you need depends on how long your Autometer nylon hoise is...mine was about 3 inches too short. You will also need a 1/8" female --> 1/8" barb fitting to mate the 5/32" vacuum hose to the Autometer male fitting.

You can use either 3M adhesive, or use some nuts and bolts to keep your guage pod secure. I had use nuts and bolts because I had the universal guage pod, not the FD specific one.

Don't think anyone told you this yet but be sure that the vac hose coming off the UIM is in a good place where it wont get kinked and stop or slow down air flow...if it is kinked you will get incorrect readings on the gauge.

So what do you guys do when the nipple on the UIM is already used?? Right now I'm running a Knight Sport electronic boost controller and that's taken up the nipple. Should I "T" off the nipple and run 2 lines to it?? Will this affect the readings? Or is there another spot to hook up the vacuum hose?

Yep, just run a T. Everyone does it, you'll be fine.
