Need help on 95 fd theft recovery

I have just found a 95 fd that was a theift recovery it is missing its motor, tranny and airbags. So it does have a salvaged title. Do you think $9000 is agood price to pay? And also what are some good web sites to get a motor and tranny?

Please help!

9k seems to be a bit high.... Esp. with the salvage title. I seen them around for 10-12 in good shape.

$9k for a salvage title car missing the drivetrain and air bags? hahaha

If everything else on the car is MINT, that car is worth MAYBE $4-5k.....

Verify with carfax, he might have replaced the gauge cluster already with a lower mileage one....

The problem with replacing the drivetrain ain't getting a short block, that's easy. It's replacing all of the manifolds, accessories, wiring harnesses, piping, hoses, solenoids, etc. that's difficult and potentially expensive.

Your best bet is probably getting a J-spec engine set and rebuild it so you'll have all the accessories and the transmission.

That should get you started. I wouldn't pay more than 4k for a shell if it was in perfect condition. Your better off shopping on ebay.

$9000 seems expensive for a theft recovery with a salvage title. I got my 94 theft recovery for $3000, w/ no drive train, engine, or interior. It was worth it in the long run but I lived on the forum classified section for a year trying to find people parting cars or selling those hard to find interior peices in black, and in decent shape. All in all buying a theft recovery is worth it if you can get one for a decent price. $9000 seems alot.

As others have stated $9,000 is extremely high. You may want to call your insurance company and ask how much they would sell a salvaged FD for.

Another factor to consider, when you decide to sell the car, it will be difficult to sell since it had a salvage title. You will also have to sell it for less than Blue Book.
