1990 GTU problems
I just acquired a 1990 GTU five speed from a theft recovery deal. Anyways, my friend is helping me that is mostly familiar with 3rd gens(owns one, suprfast on the forum). I took him for a ride and he even thought that the car felt really slow and sluggish. It has decent low end power but the upper end 5K plus pulls really really slow. He said that it could be a simple vacuum hose problem. We did a compression check and everything checked out fine. Anyways we start out the vacuum hose dilly and find a single wire connector under the Plenum(the part under the IM). Its a Green/Black wire, and saw that it also runs to the passanger side wall right next to the boost/pressure sensor on the fender hump. I just have a green plug with the same green/black wire over there with nothing to be hooked up to it. I know something is to be there. anyone give me insite on what should be there if anything. Anyone know what might be causing no high end but still have low end. Could the GTU just be this damn slow. it honestly takes a good three to four seconds to go from 5500-6500 rpm's. My civic CX hatch isnt even that slow. I think i am having the vacuum woes right now. Fill me in and let me know a good place to start. i went to www.iluvmy7.com(or something like that) and downloaded the diagrams there.

First check if your 5th and 6th ports aren't stuck close. You have an air pump on the beast right?
Try searching for arroncakes how too test and clean the 5th and 6th port aculators.

ok how bought going through and doing all filters(fuel, oil, air) get new plugs and wires. Change the oil, trans, and diff. run some inj cleaner threw. Also might want to try the water trick, or use carb cleaner instead of water, worked fine for me.
Maybe ground the car, espically the ecu.
The 5th and 6th ports are opening right? maybe clean and lube around the port rods anyways.
how many miles?? the cats are probably shot, cut them off and straight pipe or get new ones.
You said the compression was fine so if u do all this your car should be back to normal

That wire is nothing....
Either your Six-Ports are not opening, or your cats are clogged, or both.
One EASY way to tell if your six ports are opening is to take the stock airbox off and run without a filter or put a cone filter on.. then go out on a road where there is a nice metal guardrail, wall or something for sound to bounce off of and open your passenger side window and the moon roof. Floor it.. at about 5 K, you will hear something that vaugely sounds like a chainsaw engine comming from the front passenger side of the car.. this is the sound of the six ports suckiing air in past the MAF... its quite unmistakeable once you've heard it!!!
you car is a 90... the six ports are controlled by the ECU and a vaccume solenoid. They run off the AIR PUMP.. if the AIRPUM isn't on the car... the six ports won't work!!!
