Unhappy My New FD got stolen today!

I came home last night from dinner at a friends house around 10:00 PM. My car was dripping wet and I had just cleaned my garage and I did not want water running all over it. I was planning on washing my car on Sunday anyway, so I just left it in the driveway.

I was watching some TV and drinking some Irish whiskey (Due to St. Patric's Day) and I went to bed. In my sleep, I thought I heard my car running. I got up to use the bathroom around 2:30 and I thought to look outside. To my horror, my car was not in the driveway!

I went in the garage just to be sure that I was not just confused. No FD! Now I'm freaking out. For whatever reason, the first call I made was to my insurance company (USAA), of course they told me to call the cops.

It was probably about 3:30 when the cops showed up. I was pretty turned around and the cop did not really seem to care about writing up a police report at 3:30 in the morning. When he asked me for my VIN number and I said that I did not have it, he said to call back tomorrow and took off. What a jerk.

I have now gone from pissed to upset to nonchalant. Sucks, but what am I supposed to do. By the way, I just bought the thing about two months ago.

Yeah I've had that same dream, but never actually had it come true!

Hopefully you get your car back, or at least get a nice check from the insurance company to get another one with!

Whenever I think about my car getting stolen I always think aobut the fact that the RX7 community is so small how would people get away with stealing it? Or parting it. Maybe just for joy ride I dont know there are a lot of parts on my car if I was to see for sale would throw up a huge red flag lol.

i'm thinking about getting tracking device"LOWJACK" for my rx7. only cost about 4-700 at the most. and that makes ur insurance goes down! and they'll pay you if they can't find the car Plus the insurance money that you will get! ohh and its in 24hrs they say they'll locate your car!

That's awful. Did the car have an alarm, or any other theft deterrents?

Yeah, the car had an alarm, but I don't remember if I armed it. I don't think it was professional thieves that stole it as I had my daily driver Civic right next to it and that it usually what they steal as they are easier to move. I think it was just some punks who wanted a joyride.

I've only had the car for about three months, but I was already dropping money in it. It had quite a few goodies in it including a front mount intercooler (painted black), a single turbo RX6 kit, and an FC Commander. Also, I had just bought and installed some new interior pieces such at the Mazdaspeed shift **** and the A/C surround. So, be on the lookout if someone all of a sudden has all of those for sale. It is a R1 with 82k miles.

Some distinguishing features are graphite painted stock rims and a large rear wing. I never really had a chance to take proper pictures of it, but the latest I took with my camera phone are attached below.

I almost don't want it back as I'm pretty sure they drove the hell out of it without letting it warm up and god knows what else. However, my insurance/finance company did not want to finance over $12,600 due to the age even though I purchased it for $15. They will probably try to low-ball me on it or just pay off my loan.

By the way, if the pictures don't look like Atlanta, that is because I drove the car down to Miami to register it and then had it shipped back to Atlanta. I could not get it to pass emissions due to the straight-through exhaust.

In the last picture you can see the box for the A/C surround in the grass.

I got to get off this site, I'm getting too depressed

a good way to look at it is that at least you havnt had the chance to sink thousands of dallars worth of performance parts that you wouldnt ever see again. i know you already put some into it but not near as much as you would have over a years time.

sorry for the loss.

I am very sorry for your loss! After I did the motor swap, I am also paranoid about the same thing happening. I would love to store mine in a friends garage. I wouldnt know what to do with myself if it happened to me. I love the car more then anything.

I feel your pain, I was overseas for 3 months last year and when I came back my baby was raped! She was a 94 with 39k original miles. Never drove her and now all I can do is pull parts off the once beautiful car.
