well r1's didn't come with a lot of things,

yet there are a few fd r1's that DO have weird options. think we've all heard of them, like r1 with sunroof, leather seats, etc.

good point on the auto, didn't even notice.

Yep it was the battery, switched it out and it holds a good charge now.

Actually there looks like some rubber sealant around the airbox on the small rubber hose comming off what ever it is beside of the air inlet to the compressor section to the turbo.

Can someone give me a link or show me some pics of how you mounted up your aftermarket intercooler. I think I must be blind, I have tried to find my turbos but I can't see them at all. I think it is all that rubber hoseing everywhere. What are good brands for getting the reliablity mods for the "7." Will purchasing a power FC help me out alot or should I stay stock ECU until I get all the necessary mods in first. I am not looking into blowing up the motor so I am asking the experts first.

Is using "engine flush" when I change the oil in 2 weeks good for this engine?

** Bad news I think ** My engine Temp guage is fluctuating while the engine is running sort of like it is pulsing between 1/3 and 1/2 the way up constantly. I have suspended driving her until I can figure out what that problem is. ANy help guys. Is there an online service manual for the 3rd Gen.

Do a search on both the "engine flush" and an online repair manual. There is a manual for sure I've seen it. As far as your turbos, They're located on the right side (left if standing in front of car) of the engine under all the hoses. (Kinda hard to see if they not ripped out already)

Congratulations BTW! I'd invest in a single turbo swap with all the goodies lol.

My mods are first going to be the reliability mods first, as you can see it is bone stock. The engine was rebuilt 3 years ago before the woman stopped driving it.

The front bumpers bottom lip is busted from where someone ran it over a curb. So I am going to go '99 spec with a front bumper and get the tail lights converted to '99 spec. I really think it is a Base model after looking threw you guys signatures and cardomain sights instead of a touring. No Bose soundsystem and no rear windshield wiper. Can any of you tell me if it is base.


Thanks for some comments on the car. I don't think I did to shabby for the car even though it has alot of interior damage and rust on the doors. It looks like someone side swiped the passenger side mirror.

Pick up a water temp gauge. The front bumper looks like the motor has overheated before. I would hate to see you have to take the car out of service for an extended period of time right after you bought it.

R-1 didn't come in Montego blue any year. Looks like the only R-1 amennity is the rear wing. The year looks to be a 93 all tan interior plastic. still an excellant find and the Auto will be fun enough once you learn how to use it.

If you have a dark colored FD and it spends allot of time in the sun the front bumper will warp and buckle. It does not happen from the motor (unless maybe it caught fire) this is normal for an outside car of this age.

Before you get too far into the intake and exhaust, intercooler changing, find out what rechipped ECU is available for the automatic. Some ECU's will disable the hold function (what is used to make this car fun to drive) old school rule of thumb is three mods any combination to the intake/exhaust that increases flow is grounds for an ECU upgrade, new rule of thumb is all the mods you want stay at factoy boost (ten or less) no ECU needed. I preferr the old school as too many mods always leads to spiking, creep or the oh **** fator when something fails in the fuel system and the motor goes. You'll uncover alot of stuff when you get rid of the air pump, stock air box, got to hard pipe intakes the usual trail to reliability part. Good luck with it.
