Greddy E-Manage Ultimate (I searched)

Has anybody installed one of these yet? Heard anything about'em? I'm thinking about getting this along with the E-01.

What terms did you use to search? Using the search string "e-manage", I turned up these thread in about 10 seconds:

That link took me to a page that said "No Matches Found". I searched for "e-manage" in the 3rd gen section and only found 3 or 4 results.

Try again, you should get 41 results!

The E-manage won't work worth a damn on an FD...

A little bit of both actually.

I didn't think the PFC's boost control feature worked very well?

its decent but has been known to be fickle. first get the PFC and if u have boost problems u can get a profecB or do the manual boost controlller. why were u wanting an E-Manage? u have boost problems or were wanting something in expensive to tune?

What was I thinking? Yep, gonna save up for the PFC (although I'd still like some sort of reliable boost controller).

The PFC uses the stock solenoids to control boost. If your stock solenoids are in good shape and you know how to properly adjust the settings on the PFC, you can get good boost control. Aftermarket boost controllers tend to have better quality solenoids than the OEM ones.

I'm not sure what a boost controller has to do with ECU choice, it's not like the E-manage can even control boost! And you won't be able to go over 10 psi either!

Didn't know about the not over 10psi thing, but the emanage can work in conjunction with the e-01. In any case, I'll just save up for the PFC and do it right the first time. I'll have to start perusing that forum.

You posted about the e-Manage Ultimate. Currently, it CAN NOT work with the E-01. It is still in the "testing" phase, as well. We are discovering the errors in the manual it comes with, little things such as to make it work with the rotary engine you use the opposite jumper position than what the manual specifies (J9 as I recall)! This on the RX-8.

For the 3rd gen RX-7 get the PFC and commander. Much better, and as stated by others, it controls boost very well. You just have to remember there are two boost settings for that - the boost target and the on/off ratio of the solonoids. The only thing it (and all other control systems) can't control for is "boost creep". It is caused by too much exhaust gas for the wastegate. The solution for that is porting the wastegate (or bypassing it with an aftermarket one). You wouldn't run into boost creep unless you were using a low restiction exhaust, midpipe, and ran boost over about 12 PSI.

You know, I'm starting to think that some people would be better served with a non-adjustable ECU like those from M2, Pettit, PFS etc. That way at least you know the tuning was already done for a specific set of mods.

Plus there aren't that many tuners/people that can actually tune a PowerFC properly...
