My first FD project.

Well I finally bought my first FD after about 8 years of wanting one. Its a little rough around the edges and the previous owner thought it would never see the street again(hopefully i can change that). Here are some pics. Ill post more as I progress. Thanks all

Chris

Project save FD

So I got it to my freinds house and we took off the front end to see the how bad the damage really was. Its going to the frame shop this week, to one of the best, so Ive been told, in the bay area.

The plan is to put on a few more reliability mods( intercooler, intakes, PFC + commander, radiator hoses, maybe some 1300 secondarys, mid-pipe, full exhaust. Already has all silicon vacuum lines replaced, downpipe and aluminum radiator. As far as the exterior, thinking of a 99 spec bumper, 99spec taillights, fresh paint and a set of staggered 19 inch somethings. I just want to make it a clean, reliable daily driver. I have my rx-2 to get crazy with.

Nice, I'm glad to see someone bought that car whole and is going to give it some love, rather than part it out! Good luck on the project, let us know how it goes!

As attached as I am to my FD, I can't imagine what it would mean to me if it looked like that when I bought it and then transformed it back to a driveable machine better than before the wreck.

****, I'd probably marry it

Good luck man!!!

I don't know if you know or not but if you're going for the 99 front end, no need to get the 99 bumper support. You just need to cut the one you have. I still have my original that was modded to fit with a Mazdaspeed GTC bumper. If you need to see pics, let me know.

UPDATE.... All body parts bought waiting for shipping. Took pictures to the guy who is going to be pulling the frame he says it looks very repairable. He is coming tomarrow for visual inspection. Hopefully it will be in the frame shop this next weekend. As soon as parts get here already gave my body shop a heads up so its straight to paint. Hopefully have them on the car withing the next two and a half weeks. Ill try to take pics of the whole process.

UPDATE: Patientlly waiting its making me go crazy. All body parts are being shipped tomorrow. Anyways I have been looking into modifications and accesories heres the list let me know what you think and if im headed in the right direction for reliability and driveability. I want this to be my daily. Im going to put everything even whats already on the car just to have a complete list. If you can think of anything else please tell me.

PFC+commander+datalogger
1300 secondaries
FPR and all fuel lines upgraded to -6AN
255 walboro
Greddy elbow
XS power intercooler
HKS downpipe
midpipe
cat back
lightened flywheel
silicone vacuum lines
Aluminum AST
Koyo radiator
samco radiator hoses
Apexi intake
Magnacore wires
Grounding kit
Blittz turbo timer
Triple center speaker dash mount
Defi D gauge water temp, EGT
AEM Ugeo wideband
Remove power steering
manual rack modification
Upgraded synthetic fluids in the tranny and rear end

Thats my list so far. I dont care to much as far HP gains as for the reliabilty im going to get from it. From reading the forum and taking little bits from different posts all these mods seem to be the answers to most questions or problems. Thanks for reading

keep the factory flywheel. helps with driveability. some people love the lightened flywheel, some hate them.

I had a hard time finding anyone that hated a lightweight flywheel.

https://www.rx7club.com/race-car-tech-103/lightweight-flywheel-pros-cons-569575/

My car has a T04S single turbo, ACT 6 puck clutch, mild porting and a racing beat flywheel.

http://racingbeat.com/FRmazda3.htm

The only driveabililty issues are with the clutch - it doesn't allow much slippage.

I've driven the car with that clutch both with the stock flywheel and the RB lightweight, and the flywheel didn't change the driveability.
