Now you can say, in your best Will Farrell, "DAMMIT, I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!!!"

That really sucks what happened. The stress and anger I would have if a worthless spoiled **** did that to my car would be an overload. The good thing is you don't have any problem proving his insurance should pay, and your car will probably end up better than it started. Those are two things were you can screwed on no matter what sometimes.

Come spring, you'll be enjoying your 'new' ride.

You did finally get a DD for that New England winter, didn't you?

Hmm, I think he needs all new pillowballs just to be safe.

Seriously, it might be justified.

Yeah, also possible, but unlikely suspension damage to the rear if the wheel was pushed in/transmitted force inward from the impact. Check the tire on the other side, wasn't the car pushed laterally by the impact? Your worst enemy might be your insurance co trying to total it with some ludicrous blue book value estimate.

Tell the bodyshop about Malloy Mazda and Mazdaformance for a parts source.

yea that really sucks man! ive had the same thing happen to me but much worse. i was at a friends house one night and left at about 4am to go home. i walk out to seeing my car up on the sidewalk with the front left fender and rear left side quarter panel smashed in. the door wasnt touched so i figured out that the guy actually hit my car TWICE, hit the front and then backed out, tired to drive off and hit it again in the rear(yes he was drunk). we did end up catching the guy and his insurance paid for the damages. i took the money they gave me and am doing it all myself other then painting it and replacing the rear quarter. i already have all my parts and am about to get all the work done. heres the thing, after it happened and the insurance guy came out to write up an estimate and assesed the damage. the guy wrote up on the estimate that they werent going to repaint the whole car(BULLSHIT!!!!) i spent the next day cussing out insurance people on the phone about this for about 3 hours. how the hell can you fade paint on an 11 year old car!!!!! i tried and tried and tried and they werent giving in, so i just said screw it. becuase of this thread i think im gonna give it another try. im gonna call them up tomorrow cuase i alraedy have to get an estimater to come back out because there was some damage that was under the front fender that was not put into the estimate, and when i do that im gonna start my bitchin again about the paint. right now my car is just a chassis, motor, interior, everything is out and is ready to go to the body shop to get the new paint job and to get the quarter panel put on. just the thing is i dont have the money right now to get it painted. its red now and im going with the titanium grey that is on the spirit R. on the estimate what they wanted to do is put brand new paint on a new fender, new quarter, new front and back bumpers. then they wanted to fade the door, top of the car, the hood and the hatch. WTF! your already painting 3/4's of the car, what the hell is the problem. i dont know im gonna give it another shot since i already have to call them back up anyway, its worth a shot. but anyways sorry again to hear about your car and i hope it all works out for you.

fyi - you can report directly to his insurance company w/o waiting for him.

i had to do that once when some ***** rear ended me (in another car) and jerked me around for a week wanting to pay for it out of his pocket. just report it yourself b4 he fixes his truck and says it never happened.

Sorry man... it's always a sad day when a fellow 7 owner gets his baby hit Fix her up nice and good and post some pics! As for that kid, make sure he gets a big hit from his insurance as well as his dad... then again, he's probably some rich spoiled kid.

At least you know who did it. I parked my car in the street for one night and came out the next morning to find it side swiped. Driver's fender, door and quarter panel all damaged.

damn people not paying attention. This happened to me two weeks ago, except i was out for a ride (cyclist, Cannondale R1000 road racing bike) and a lady (professor at the University where I go no less) in a WRX, who was talking to her passengers, turned left and accelerated into me. She reported it right away, but it took me three calls to her claims adjuster to get any response. Go for the best of everything, don't settle for repairs on stuff that's not repairable. My bike is totaled, and i'm gettin almost $2,400 out of it, with which i'm buying a new bike. Have everything that could possibly go wrong in an accident checked out, like everyone has said, suspension, wheels (have the opposite wheel checked just to make sure that it's not slightly out of true, if my memory serves me correct {don't own a 7 yet, saving for it now} the '93 wheels are not as strong as the '94 or '95 wheels, so the opposite wheel may be bent/cracked), frame, everything, because when you sign off on the insurance claim, that is final and anything that pops up in the future, even though it's a by-product of the accident, will be on your shoulders, not on his insurance companies.

That sucks! Trust me I know! My FD has been hit 3 times in the last 12 months...twice while it was parked. I just got the car completely repainted AGAIN. And had three wheels refinished. I have been tempted to SARAN WRAP my car and leave it in the garage, for fear of it being hit again.

Look on the bright side, you get a brand new paint job and you could probably get your neighbor to have HIS insurance company pay for a bunch of other needed repairs or MODS.

Ahh Mahjik, I missed you while I was in Venice. I had no one to rag on me about the non-seq thing. But thanks for your sympathy.

I'm looking into suspension damage, it'll be taken care of if it can be. If I can get away with pillow ***** they'll be done, cus I need them.

To all who have similar experiences, it sucks I feel your pain.

alberto_mg: I already called his insurance company and filed the claim, thats how I know he hadn't contacted them yet.

Oh look. A funny guy. I don't have one.

Newest update. Car is down at the body shop. My friend that owns the shop wanted to be there to point out all the little things the appriaser would miss while doing the visual inspection, like the wheel and tire, and the interior and suspension damage if there is any. He said appraisers like to miss that stuff so that they have to go back and do it again, that way maybe it'll be overlooked. Another trick the insurance companies play to try to not pay for stuff.

On a related note, the car still has not been appraised. There was some communication issues or something, but maybe Monday. I figure I'm not driving it again until spring at this point. Dammit that makes me mad.
