Is MY 7 DEAD

Black 94 touring with 44k (never raced no mods)

Driving down the hwy lost all my power. No smoke or oil leaking in the engine bay or in the ehaust. Car starts (erratic idle) and moves on with reduced power ( doesn't seem like the turbo's are kicking in.)

looking for a good shop in the chicago region.

Any help info would be appreciated

Sounds like some hoses just came loose. I had that happen after Mazda installed my re-manufactured engine. The hoses just fell off the turbos..

check the MAP sensor on the firewall driver's side. The vacuum hose pops off the black sensor quite commonly. The sensor is labeled "boost sensor".

Attached is the MAP(Mean Atmospheric Pressure) sensor on the firewall.

Map sensor

I shall take a look at that first thing in the morning. BTW does this result in bad idling.

Will a bad turbo be noticed at idling ??
thanks

yo your car is done...that same thing happend to me. both your engine and your turbos are ruined. $20,000 to fix from mazda. I'll give you 4 grand for your car. get out while you still can! haha for real something dumb is messed up. its a hose or something. check out that map sensor. mine was off for a few minutes and the car wasn't worth a damn.

The hoses seem fine (specially the one on the map sensor). I shall start with the plugs / wires etc...

The same exact thing happened to my RX-7 a week ago driving down the highway. It turned out to be a blown air boot seal.

dont baby the car too much, if you dont run it hard at all, it will cause really mean carbon build up, which will lead to a loss of compression, and ultimately engine failure. Excessive carbon build up directly affects the apex seal's effectiveness. Do a search for 'ATF trick'; it'll help destroy all the carbon build up you probably have.

That's the worst case scenario...best bet is to check all your hoses...y-pipe, intercooler, turbo, and pressure tank hoses are the most common to pop off/tear.

I'll bet u any money its the boost sensor hose on the driver's side firewall. Happened to me a few times already. Need to get a zip tie for it cause it pops off under full throttle.
