Muffler is glowing after running?

after fixing my cars problems, i.e. destroyed muffler from running rich and shooting flames, I put an apex'i N1 on my car. after driving say, 30 or 40 mins on the freeway not even getting on it at all because of break-in procedures, I notice that the inside of the muffler is a fairly bright glowing orange from heat. is this normal? if not, whats causing this? rich or lean? I dont know which...

steve...your precat or main cat or both are most likely clogged.

i wouldn't be surprized if when you fixed your rich running problem your engine ended up running too lean. So exaust temperatures increased and caused your muffler to glow.

ya, I was before I fixed the motor. It would shoot em at a simple rev in neutral up to around 3k. now, it backfires a bit when I get off it, but thankfully none at startup. From what Im told its a little blue flame. So if you're saying my precat and cat are clogged, then can I replace the precat with a DP and not worry about running too lean? Stock ECU, Stock turbos, Stock and cleaned injectors, Stock intake.

sometimes poor ignition component can caused this too, resulting unburn fuel getting dumped into the exhaust system.
