the jacobs ignition rotary pack has gathered nothing but praise from what I have seen. The HKS twinpower with tII coils is also a popular choice. Unfortunately its about time I did something nice for my electrical system as well.

if you go to summit and compare the specs on ignition amps:

MSD6

volts to coil 460-480
spark output (current) 115mJ

MSD digital 6 plus

volts to coil 535
spark output (current) 135 mJ

Jacobs FC3000

volts to coil 535
spark output (current) 145 mJ

Crane HI6

volts to coil 450
spark output (current) 120 mJ

in addition to outperforming the two MSD amps and the Crane, the Jacobs has an acceleration-sensing circuit that amps up the output and then backs it off under cruise so you don't fry your coil and plugs...

as to coils.....

nothing beats the MSD 8253 HVC2.
the spark duration is 3X other coils. guess that's why it costs about $120 per. check out the specs on the 8253 and other coils on the Summit site.

i really like MSD but Jacobs has a better amp. i run two FC3000s and two MSD 8253 coils on my leading plugs.

if you want to run a twin output CD coil check out the MSD 8261 or go to MSD's website and find a 2 pole output CD motorcycle coil.

the twin output run by one amp is significantly less output than 2 amps each running one coil as the amp voltage is divided so there is some giveup... just compare the twin output 8261 to the single 8253 and you will see.

whatever amp you purchase do not pay up for the next iteration w a rev limiter. since you will be running just the leading plugs you don't want to disturb the sequential split ignition events which would happen once you hit the rev limit. i just turned the rev limiters off on my FC3000s.

good luck

These are the coils I run on my setup. Thanks Howard for the correct number, could not remember it and too lazy to pull out the book. They are workhorses.

Gordon Munson turned me on to the MSD Digital 6a setup way back in the Digest days and I have not looked back since. Matter of fact, I am putting the same setup on my second single turbo MBM project. Pics at a later date.

would it be a smarter idea to go with the new ignition setup or go for a new fuel system
