Cool Motor's out, what to replace?

Well I got my motor out and I need to replace some parts. What would be some good reliability parts to replace? I am getting my motor Race Ported and a GT35/40 Turbo Kit to install. My mods are listed below. My question regards the little stuff that is always ignored such as coolant hoses, wiring harness, etc... I am going to replace all my vacumn lines that I still will use with new silicone hoses as well as a new engine ground wire kit. I broke a few clips from my wiring harnes trying to get it off. That **** was so hard and brittle. So I am thinking about a new wiring harness. How much would one cost? Also I am going to replace all my coolant lines with new ones as well as new plugs and wires. Any more suggestions?

I am having the motor built by Bryan at BNR to hold up to 550rwhp which includes having my stationary gears hardened, new hurley seals, race ported, reenforced dowels, and more. I am also getting my GT35/40 with a new secondary fuel rail with 1600cc injectors, Greddy Profec B boost controller, SX Fuel Pressure Regulator, and some more gauges.

If anyone has any more suggestions on things to replace while the motor is out, please let me know.

Thanks, Scott

Scott - I dont own an FD but from what I have read (and heard) a new wiring harness costs upwards of 1000.00 from Mazda.

Can someone else confirm this for him? I dont want to pass false info....

make it work...

Make it work, we can either use some clip(ends) that i have sitting around up at the shop, or you can just make sure the ends go together solid and electrical tape the **** out of them.

750 bucks can be spent to make it go faster...

Scott: I just put in a new motor and wanted to do all the marginal stuff while the old core was out. I did:

*engine wiring harness - $750 mine was a total mess and was shorting out so I bit the bullet
*fuel pulsation dampner - $130
*fuel lines - $15 & 8
*injector o-rings - $4 each
*OMP oil lines - $29 each, mine were leaking down onto the turbos
*f/r motor mounts - $250 each
*water hoses to the TB - $15
*TB gasket - $15
*TPS - $160

I figured it's better to do this stuff now while the motor is out and there was no additional labor to put in new parts. However, every car is different and some of the above may be fine when you inspect them on your FD.

Is it possible to get new clips from Mazda without getting the entire wiring harness? Mine was working fine but some clips broke off of the passenger side of the wiring harness. The driver side is all fine. Or can you substitute plugs or will they not be able to withstand the engine heat? Scott

Also make sure that you will still be using the clips you broke. Many of the clips that are taken off going from a twin setup to a single setup went to solenoids which you won't be reinstalling. ahhh...that statement make me feel so good...

But what do you do with all the extra wires? Just leave them hanging there? Also, I did not break any of the 6 or so colored clips that ran the solenoids. I know I broke one of the fuel injector clips and some others. I heard that NAPA or Carquest has a book that has all the clips labeled and they sell them. So hopefully that is true. How many clips will I not be installing again?
