motor OIL???

Hey guys,

My 20b motor still has the OMP intact. I have been recommended to use AMSOIL series 2000 20/50 motor oil ONLY. Now I don't really know what the deal is w/ the 20b motor, but I recall from my OMP 13b motor that you cannot use synthetic because it does not burn out of the engine and ends up building up into sludge. Can someone please help me?

Thanks,

Chris

Do not use synthetic.. it is bad for rotaries

There have been many threads about what oil is better, 20w50, 10w40, 10w30, etc etc. There is no clear-cut answer, but a lot of rotary guys prefer the thicker oil like the 20w50 has.

Read through this thread. Theres varying opinions on motor oil.

IMO, high quality synthetic oils are the best. Mobil 1 10-30 or 20-50 is popular

Using the search engine at the top of this forum will provide you with countless threads discussing opinions on using synthetic oil, what grade, etc. However...

This is incorrect. Countless owners, rotary shops, and racing teams have proven synthetic oils are fine to use in the Wankel.

My owner manual says only use 5-30 or 10-30. I live in california so it hot. aND I drive like an ******* so shouldn't I use 10 40 or 20 50? Theres no way im using synthetic I change oil every 2k miles or when it starts to turn black whichever comes first. It would be way to expensive.

According to some, synthetics will eat the seals in your engine... there is nothing wrong with using what mazda specified in your owner's manual which is probably non-synthetic 10w-30

i change my oil every 1500-2000 w/ synthetics. it aint that expensive dude. i mean come on you own a fd. you should have money if you want to play with this evil machine.

C rock999 - how do you have a 20b and not know the simple basics? well if your really unsure, just get idemitsu rotary engine oil. btw its synthetic. good luck

Use sinthetic if you are not running the OMP, if you will use it then use regular mineral oil. Just lke you did in your 13b.

Screaming eagle ****, Batman! It's another mineral versus synthetic thread! Almost as popular as the "how much would it cost to import a spirit r?" threads.
