I thought we were talking about the Z06? Which has taken great measures to maintain a "sportscar" weight and puts down some serious horsepower while it's making that extra noise.

Oh that's easy.

I was about ready to go to bed, and the "it's just another used '95 automatic" stuck in my head because of other people's posts stating that it must be a used unit due to the mileage. Yes, was driven off the lot and titled to an individual, it will be classified as a used vehicle. But this vehicle has never been titled to anyone. So it currently can't really be called a used vehicle.

Thats when I started explaining that I personally saw the car, and that it IS in mint condition. Assuming, of course, that the seller IS in fact the actual Marlin Mazda dealership where I saw it.

Just like Demos. Demos are not classified as a new vehicle because it was never registered to any individual. That's why demos can be sold with the new cars, but with a few more miles tacked on to it...from my experience. Every State may have different laws regarding it.

Well, with more than 11,500 posts to your name, somehow I thought you'd be a little better at it by now.

All you had to do was start a new post instead of misquoting me and disagreeing with something that I didn't say.

I think anyone that doesn't appreciate the FD shouldn't own one. Especially an owner that says its "****" or "unreliable". Its best you go buy another car, because the FD you drive doesn't deserve an owner like you.

Not to mention, that reputation is no longer accurate. American cars can compete with any car in the class/price range. Quality is greatly improved. I'm sure there are still examples of cheap crap, but it's from both shores.
Worst facory car ever made for quality AND reliability? Thats a huuuuge exaggeration, to say the least! And american cars have NOTHING on the reliability and quality of japanese cars. I dunno what you've been smoking...

Indeed. Reminds me of a friend of mine that says MKIV supras are overrated dyno-queens - yet he took the time to find one, and took out a large loan to get it. Maybe they've both just seen the Fast and the Furious one too many times. Fanboys. *sigh*

I love RX7's! I think you guys are in denial. I don't think it's a coincidence that 75% of 3rd gens have replacement engines. I don't think they are ****, I was exaggerating. But Mazda really dropped the ball when it came to reliability with this car. I don't hold it against the car, I hold it against Mazda.

If I hated FD's, I wouldn't have invested over $13,000 in parts on it. I would rather have a nice FD than a Z06, but I think that american cars get a bad rap. I happen to like American muscle cars too. I'd rather have a '70 Hemi 'Cuda than an FD. Sorry, that's my opinion.

As far as Lotus Elise fans... I appologize. I ment they are cars that practice an altenative lifestyle.

I have that in common with you. I have several muscle cars. I just recently sold my '70 Challenger T/A Plum Crazy! I'm looking for a Hemi Cuda myself!

Bet I'd **** off a lot of people if I bought that one and dropped an LS1 in...

I guess if you're a collector... it might be worth it. Never understood the point of collecting cars if you're not going to drive them though. Ah well.

American cars can't compete with Japanese cars at all in terms of reliability. Do a little searching around in an April edition of Consumer reports, it isn't even a contest.
Actually, GM took 6 or 7 of the top 20 spots in the last JD Power ratings. Also put them as number one overall, when the different Marqees are combined. Toyota was number 2 overall I believe.

I love how many Americans dig on American cars. You know, gullible isn't in the dictionary...

Guys, according to the dealership and Mazda Corporation, this car will be covered under warrantee as if new. Here is the guy's email from the dealership if anyone is interested...

Hi

Mike I just got good news from mazda in regards to the rx-7. The factory
warranty is still good. If you were to purchase the vehicle you would have
3years 50 thousand miles of warranty on the vehicle. Please give me a call with
in questions or concerns.

Thank You,

FWIW, I saw a black TT Supra sell on ebay for almost $50K not too long ago (a few months) w/ rediculously low mileage. I'm not a resident Supra expert (Jim?) but I'm pretty sure that car sold for over sticker.

It would be interesting to know how many of those auctions actually conclude succesfully (i.e. the seller gets paid with no problems). I know that a lot of auctions get false bids these days and winning bidders back out after the auction ends.

I'm pretty sure that car sold for over sticker.
If it sold for close to $50,000, it was over sticker price for an early ('93-'95) turbo, but I don't know what the '97s and '98s were selling for new.

Yea I wonder the same...but this thing had a ton of bids on it from many users, so I'd hope that if the winner was full of it, the seller could just move to the next guy in line. Bid increments are usually what...$100? Just drop the price $100, and ask the next guy in line if he wants it (which he most probably does).

You got me...but do you really think Supras sold for $50K+ at all? DAMN that's expensive. I know there are obvious shortcomings of the FD, but c'mon Jim, even YOU gotta agree that an FD selling for $33K competing w/ and even outperforming a Supra in certain categories for $15K less? Even later on, when the price jumped up to $43K...still...that's $7K. That's pretty darn good IMO.

The window sticker on my '95 PEP (the most expensive model) was $41,400 and I paid $37,500. The sale price of my '94 Supra turbo automatic with sport roof (the most expensive model) was $41,900. Not that much difference. To my knowledge, the only car in that class which sold for more than $50k was the 3000GT VR4 in the final years.

I believe the later model supras were selling for less as Toyota reduced their asking prices due to low demand and poor sales figures. I imagine now that they are worth close to sale value (assuming excellent condition, low mileage, etc) or possibly more considering how rare they are.

As far as I was aware the the '99 VR4 (the rarest and latest model) was still selling for ~$45,000, but I could be wrong.
