Speaking of an FD in the living room, there's a Mazda mechanic by the name of Ivan here in the SF Bay Area who keeps an FD in his living room, and it only has 380 original miles on it. No lie!

I can honestly tell that you didn't read my post. If you did, evidently you didn't comprehend what you read. Let's try again...

"Once it's driven off the lot, however, it's just another used '95 automatic..."

What do you call a car the second after you buy it and drive it off a dealership's lot? USED.
Did I imply at any time that the car should be considered used in its current state? NO.
Does your reading comprehension need work? **** YES.

Thats true it is a USED car since it has almost 200 miles. It would be worth 37K $ if it was still NEW as in only the miles it took to get in the boat and off into the dealership. Z06? Why do people keep mentionining that car. American cars are just cheaper/performance period and its apparent why. I use to vallet cars and american cars are POS in my oppinion. Now the zo6 or c5 whatever are some of the nicer american cars. Mabey the only one I would buy if I had to buy one in that price range. BUT its still a totally different feel. Different attitude and spirit of driving...I would rather have an Elise than a zo6 boring piece.

Has anyone rebuilt a 13B ??? I have twice and if you notice that in 93 I think the rubber side seals did not go to silicone yet. Buy from mazda now and they are green silicone rubber side seals. Now imagine how much 11 years of a rubber part just sitting in your engine ? I think its time to go in my opinion.

I was referring to the fact that I saw the car, talked to the fools at the dealer, and know that it has never had a previous owner. Meaning since it has never had a previous owner, it can be considered new.

Once drive off the lot, then yes that IS a different story, but I never mentioned that on my first reply to you.

Maybe I'm not the one with the reading comprehension problem

I was just stating that fact because people here are questioning if it is new or not. Believe me, after seeing it, it IS new!! The under body didn't even have a mark on it.

Von,
You've got to be kidding me! Are you seriously an FD owner complaining about the cheapness/reliability of american cars?!!! The Fd has to be the worst factory car every made in terms of quality/reliability. Mazda should have been sued for selling ****. Performance and looks, on the other hand, you have a case. Not to mention, that reputation is no longer accurate. American cars can compete with any car in the class/price range. Quality is greatly improved. I'm sure there are still examples of cheap crap, but it's from both shores.

It has black doors because it's a '95 model.

Because its a Lotus... And I bet that around a track the Elise could possibly give the Z06 a run for its money. Plus the unlike the Rx-7, the Elise will not lose half its value when it drives off the showroom floor.
I havent driven the new Elise yet but I did drive a Exige in the UK a couple years ago while on a shoot. Its a pretty amazing car..definatley more "flickable" and fun to drive than the Rx. Even more so than the Z06 for that matter.

You've got to be kidding. Ever check out a Jeep Cherokee or practially any GM product? I've had multiple friends with those things, they SUCK. New diffs (3 on one rig), new trannys, door panel inserts falling out, new fuel pump ($800!), etc.

American cars can't compete with Japanese cars at all in terms of reliability. Do a little searching around in an April edition of Consumer reports, it isn't even a contest.

Then why did you quote my post, when it was apparently obvious to you that I wasn't referring to the current state of the car?

I was referring to the fact that I saw the car, talked to the fools at the dealer, and know that it has never had a previous owner. Meaning since it has never had a previous owner, it can be considered new.
Show me where I contradicted that.

Maybe I'm not the one with the reading comprehension problem
Think again.

I see your point but there are just to many cases of american cars being ****. My dads ford truck suposively made with a jap engine had electrical issues after less then 10k miles and left him stranded. My best friends mom's ford focus has 11 recalls mabey more. One the rear left tire would fall off. I think killed one guy or seriously injured. 3 recalls on the clutch and 1 for a fuel pump filter that corroded after a few years. I saw the list from ford that was sent to her and we all started laughfing. Even she knows its a piece of **** ford. My friends brother has a Murcury and its broke two. Bought it new 3 years ago. I can go on and on.

I was giving credit to the corvette as an exception for buying an american car. Compared to the rx7 you have a point because its also unreliable. But I disagree with the elise coment. You can also say the miata is gay to I'm sure you would but in reality they are not gay at all in fact they are above average cars. You remind me of the typical american car owner who tries to hard to be hard in what you call "man cars" that make your dick look bigger" because your driving something that weighs double a real sports car and makes more noise. No offense I hope thats just what I experience as a vallet. Especially since you over react when poeple dont agree with you that american cars are better then rx7's or whatever Lol. I actually dont own a 3rd gen yet. Had a 2nd. Overseas right now so im saving up for one.

Shawn told me they got it though opening both sliding glass doors.

I think that was Shawn's friend's FD, so that might be Ivan. Im not 100% sure, but I think shawn had that silver 94 FD and the yellow one was a friends. Shawn did live in SF bay area, so its probably the same guy/car.
